for anyone who can't get their head around Eric's low carb talk, try reading "Neris and India's idiot-proof diet"... I still keep trying to get rid of my carbs addiction but I know what I'm doing... (doesn't mean I did get rid of it...) I'm reading it second time now, I also got the cooking book for ideas(cheap on ebay/amazon)
Thanks - just ordered this and the cookbook from amazon. Don't really want to stick to a rigid diet plan, but thought it would help with meal ideas and keep me motivated.0 -

the book is really great, it's pretty much the same idea as Eric's, they encourage you to do two weeks really low carb(even double cream instead of milk in tea/coffee) to break the addiction and then just introduce the good low GI carbs...
there is also a forum(from pig to twig?or something) but I didn't get a chance to have a look yet...
AND I went jogging today!:eek::eek: well, half jogging half walking as we have lots of hills here and it was my first time since couple of years but my housemate has been trying to get me out for a week and as I was home early I finally gave in... I wanted to kill her at the end but feel quite good now actually... my tooth is still REALLY bad - got some antibiotics today - I managed to forget about it for the half an hour...might give it a go on Thursday again and see how it goes...
my bf said that he will cook dinners if I'll be going jogging regulary! he only just started to do some cooking as couple of weeks ago only food he was able to do was scrambled eggs :rotfl:but I must admit he's doing really well: rack of lamb in vegetables tonight!
Oh and Eric: what's your view on fish oil capsules? waste of money or quite helpful? TIA0 -

I've got the best free weight loss plan - fast walking.
I have lost 2 stone in 8 weeks by cutting out the junk (only cutting out high fat/sugar foods and bread) and doing fast walking for 30-45 minutes 3-4 times a week. Otherwise eating as normal but never after 7pm.
The reason for this is because your heart rate when you walk fast is at its optimum for fat burning, far better than running, and even better than boxing which I used to live for. The plan is to go out of your front door and walk for 30 minutes as fast as you can without breaking into a jog. You'll eventually walk faster and cover more distance, but take it easy for the first week or two. Drink plenty of water and don't bother with the gym - it is more effort for less results. Mid morning and mid afternoon you feel hungry because you're thirsty so make sure you have a glass of water and the craving will go.
Forget all these fad diets, the dukan diet will be forgotton (along with the atkins diet and all the other plans that have gone by) shortly and be replaced with something new. I have met plenty of people that lost tonnes of weight on these various diets but none who have kept it off because they haven't taught them to eat properly.
Best of luck! If anyone tries this I'd be grateful if you let me know your results.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Guess what I'm munching on? :rotfl:I bought some chickpeas today. Drained the water out, rinsed it thoroughly and took off the skin. Put them in a baking tray, drizzled oil over them and put in the oven for 40mins. When it was brown and crunchy, added some seasoning and now, I can't stop munching.
Don't know if Eric will approve :rotfl:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES:

Could you add 2hrs to my trip please
.
Unfortunately my mother came to visit over the weekend and I drank a fair bit, which I don't do often so I'm a bit apprehensive about tomorrow now:D

World of Tights - you have done so well and I know that you can keep going. It is very hard, but you CAN DO IT. Had a stressful week, so DH went out for fish and chips. I just had the (battered) fish, no chips. Did eat the batter though! No idea how many carbs in large piece of fried rock salmon.0

Thanks everyone :kisses3:
Sorry about earlier, I'm just so frustrated with the whole thing. I'm frustrated that I'm fat, and frustrated that I keep slipping up and making mistakes. I'm also frustrated with a lot of other aspects of my life, so I guess that makes everything more difficult.
Thank you so much to all of you - you are a great source of information, advice and support
I have another question though! I have *just* started running since Saturday, only going for a couple minutes at a time with the dog. Should my shins hurt? I am wearing proper running shoes and running on tarmac (there's no grass). Is this something seriously wrong, or just something that happens when you start running?0 -
I have that problem when I start exercising after not having done some for a while (ok a couple of months
).
It will wear off once you get in the habit and your body gets used to it - but I also found that doing some stretches before and after, and also some heel raising exercises twice a day helped strengthen my legs and knee so reduced the problem.0
