Guess what I'm munching on? :rotfl:I bought some chickpeas today. Drained the water out, rinsed it thoroughly and took off the skin. Put them in a baking tray, drizzled oil over them and put in the oven for 40mins. When it was brown and crunchy, added some seasoning and now, I can't stop munching.

Don't know if Eric will approve :rotfl:

chic peas are GI 32 which is low, so they are good, you have made something equivalent to the food doctor bean mix, which is excellent :T

scoffing the lot is not a good thing :rotfl:

    Thanks everyone :kisses3:

Sorry about earlier, I'm just so frustrated with the whole thing. I'm frustrated that I'm fat, and frustrated that I keep slipping up and making mistakes. I'm also frustrated with a lot of other aspects of my life, so I guess that makes everything more difficult.

Thank you so much to all of you - you are a great source of information, advice and support

I have another question though! I have *just* started running since Saturday, only going for a couple minutes at a time with the dog. Should my shins hurt? I am wearing proper running shoes and running on tarmac (there's no grass). Is this something seriously wrong, or just something that happens when you start running?

it takes time, time to loose weight and time to learn how, but doing it slowly and properly means you should keep it off and understand why

it takes time for the body to adjust to exercise, muscles that are unused to it will ache but this passes with time

its important to build up to it at a sensible rate, to stretch and warm up before you start and to warm down afterwards

its important to rest for a few days after you first start to do an exercise to allow the muscle to heal

I think weight loss is the most frustrating thing in the world right now too! Just stick at it and good things will come. I was elated to get down to 10st9 just 2 days ago, guess what scales today 10st11.5 that's a 2.5lb increase!!!! Why I don't know, I have been good but I am guessing the body works in mysterious ways.

I go to my cycling and tri events to be presented with stick thin athletes and always feel like a waddler and I don't belong but I am determine not to be intimidated by it and keep cracking on as it is who I want to be.

As for your shins, yes when I have a break from running and go back my shins hurt, especially when running on road. Make sure you start gently and build up. So many peope just go out and run too far too soon end up injured and not able to do anything. Just work within yourself, walk and run if need be. Try to stay on your toes, slightly lean forward. Try to avoid hitting heel first. Running on your toes is quicker and kinder to the body but it will be felt in your calf muscles after.

You say there is no grass but I recommend trying to find an off road route, so so much kinder to your body, a better work out and if, like me, you are not at a fighting weight it Will give you a bit more protection from the hard impact of running. Also if you ever enter a race you will muller all the road runners as you just get fitter running off road.

Anyway hope I am being helpful and not know all! I am rubbish with diet but a nerd when it comes to sport.

Anyway I am banging on, Fred just need to log my weeks so far

    Weight +2.5lb
    01/8 2.5 hours cycling
    02/8 30mins walking
    03/8 1 hour cycling

    Good Morning!

Weighing day!... -3lbs for me please Fred :D:D:D, although this is a two week figure as last week I was on holiday.

Exercise for yesterday: 15 mins on Wii Fit, just home too late to get everything done, my next C25K run tonight, its funny how quickly I have started to look forward to it.

This is exactly the opposite to what the C25K podcast said, nevermind as I run the way my feet want to go, best advise don't run too fast, too misquote "Running is a journey not a sprint... except if its a sprint" :D:D:D

Heavy heel striking is slow and increases the chances if injury, check out chi running, very very effective. A friend i was coaching went from a 4.30 marathon to 3.20 marathon in 6 months by just changing her running style. She was also previously very injury prone and since chaining her gait has not had any injuries at all. ,y word is not gospel but as I said i am a nerd to sport (qualified coach and fitness instructor too)! As I said everyone has their own way of doing things tho.
