Glad to have you with me on my journey to New Zealand Trigirl.
I have also set myself a personal challenge of trying 3 new excercises this month. Began tonight with Tai Chi. Felt very strange moving so slowly and not sure whether it will help with the weight loss. Did enjoy it though and I am hoping it helps with my joint pains and improves my core stability.
Anyone else do Tia Chi?0 -

done with proper form tia chi is very effective, not the best exercise for "burn" but still well worth doing0 -

Aarrggghhhh! I've just lost my whole post - bloomin' internet connection. Barely have the energy to write it again, but here goes...
Well I think I've started a trend for New Zealand!
The only thing is... I have the time down as 23 hours 18 mins (using the Travel Maths link http://www.travelmath.com/flight-time/from/London,+United+Kingdom/to/New+Zealand) should we be using the same source, or does it not really matter? Is it best to weigh yourself everyday like my wii fit says, or just once a week? At the moment im just doing it once a week, but would it be more accurate to weigh my self every day. I get really disheartened if it goes up even a tiny bit which is y i dont like doing it everyday.
I think that there are pros and cons for both methods. For me, I find it better to weigh in everyday as you get to know your body more. When you weigh in daily you do notice the rises and falls, but you can usually think back and pinpoint the reason for the fluctuation (salty lunch, late night meal, etc).
If you only weigh in once a week and happen to weigh in on a day when you gain a little (sometimes meaning an STS or possibly a gain over the last week), then that can be even more disheartening as it can make you feel like the whole week has been a waste of time, iyswim.margaretclare wrote: »Thanks for this, lolly101.
Back to smoking, my late daughter's father-in-law was the worst. He was ill for years and then nearly died - he had a hiatus hernia which required urgent surgery, was preventing him breathing (the stomach squeezes back up into the chest through the gap in the diaphragm), was in critical care then high-dependency then a surgical ward, all this took ages and obviously he couldn't smoke, couldn't even get out of bed. Back home, he'd effectively stopped smoking. And would you believe it? Next time I saw him, he'd re-started. The argument was 'I smoked since I was 15 and the habit is too hard to break'. He eventually died of a stroke. It was unbelievable. He said things like 'oh well, they've changed their minds now about smoking, they used to think it was good for you' - he remembered being given cigarettes by Red Cross nurses on his return from Dunkirk! Incredible.
That is really sad. I can understand, to a point, the smoking regardless of his illness, but it just seems so pointless starting again when he had already quit. I would like to think that I would react differently, but to be honest I'm not completely sure that I would.0 -

Hi Lolly - Don't know why we have different times - I just googled it. Happy to use the Travel Maths time of 23 hrs 18 mins.
Fred - can you add 1 hour.
Thanks,
