morning all, yesterday logged 45min up temp walk as was racing today.
Today have just done 1hr25min, swim/bike/run triathlon. Very hilly course, even the swim felt uphill! LOL.

I am annoyed could have done mroe on the bike but I am such a wimp on descents when it is a windy/ gravelly road. I suppose if I come off at speed to save 30 seconds it isnt really worth it.

A poor woman did just that and she was dripping blood all down her back. I really felt for her (is making me wince now).

A good/ annoying thing is my really nice sweaty betty tri top and bottoms are too big now and the top was dragging water in the swim. Gutted as I love the kit, pleased as it shows I am losing weight.

STS from yesterday weight wise but pleased-ish with the race.

To give you a chuckle I had the joy of a bee flying into my top whilst on bike and stinging me! Just as I was clockin 30mph on a tricky downhill!

I seem to recall someone posting an alternative podcast for the couch to 5k NHS one with different music - can anyone find the link - everything I've googled goes back to the NHS one which is fine but if I can find better music I'd be happier :j
Try runnersworld.co.uk for podcasts they have a wealth of them for all manner of things.

I use a calorie needs calculator on WLR - http://www.weightlossresources.co.uk/logout/calorie_intake.htm?gclid=CPz--dSaq6oCFRJc4Qod7Ue35w

You have to sign up to use it but it's free for 24 hours (you can also sign up again later for free - I can't even count how many free trials I've had!).

I was paying for this site for about 2-3 years and lost weight so sloooowly, I got bored with the constant inputting of every morsel into the food diary and basically not getting anywhere.

Have just looked at WLR again and they say I need to lose 15 kg. According to Dr Dukan I need to lose 11 kg, and that is do-able, should be achieved by 18th October. Having an end date to this is proving to be a tremendous motivator. Realistically, getting to 9 stone, 2 stone less than I am now, is something I can live with. I'd be size 12. According to WLR and according to my BMI on their site, I should be 7 1/2 stone. I've never been that in my adult life! Trying to do that, I think I've been setting myself up for failure. The least I've ever been was 8 1/2 stone and that was when I had 2 littlies and never stopped running everywhere. Even making a phone call meant loading them into the push-chair and walking half a mile to the phone box in the village. I don't think it's at all realistic to aim at that again, but I do think I can get to 9 stone. Since I started the Dukan diet last Sunday I've lost 1.1 kg, or 3 pounds. I never lost that much with WLR, and with Dukan, it is such a relief not to have to give a thought to calories-counting or logging a food diary.

The difference with Dukan came when they discovered that I have heavy bones, measured according to whether you can wrap the fingers of one hand around the opposite wrist. If there's a gap then you have heavy bones. None of the other weight loss systems has ever discovered this. They all focus on BMI as the be-all and end-all. Dukan doesn't even mention BMI.

It's important to aim at a goal which is achievable, otherwise you are just setting yourself up for failure.

  • Hi All, glad I found this thread!
I started the Dukan last week and there seem to be a few Dukan experts on here!
Initially I started to go down quickly losing 7lb in 5 days then when I changed to the cruise bit I put two back on- no idea why, I do walk loads and swim 3 times a week....

Someone please tell me this is ok and just stick with it, I'm so tempted to chuck it in but I don't want another failure:o
    LBM- finally kicked in 16/12/08 @ [strike]£41,862 [/strike] £0.00/ DFD- 24/12/13 :D

a great article on dairy and why for me its perfectly fine for a primal type diet, well for 80% of Europeans anyway :p

    Eric,

This site as a whole is interesting but my problem is the practicality, I just can not see how to turn this into practice when my lifestyle is so hectic during the day.

If say I look up from my desk and its lunchtime, I haven't pre-prepared anything which is normal so I pootle to Tesco Express, how do I contruct a primal lunch from here assuming all I have to cook with is a microwave and 10 minutes?

I feel you are right with Carb reduction but it seems unsuited to the office 30 minute lunch.
