I have a stinking cold today, have stuck to my diet but no exercise except a 3 mile walk into town, so at least I have done my 10, 000 steps! Does anyone here train when they are poorly?

you need to be careful it can be extremely dangerous to train if you have a viral infection, you should follow the neck rule

Basically if your running a temp or if its in your chest then don't train

Oh well managed to go against my own advice and jumped on the treadmill after getting my little man off to bed, just did a 5k but it felt enough, only 26 mins all in all but better than nothing. Planning to go out on the bike while little man is at play school tomorrow.

Just watching next top model, god if anything makes you feel fat that will!!!!

    26 mins for a 5k is fast unless your a pro/am runner

Thanks, not a pro, I play at triathlon. My pb for 5k is 20 mins which was when I was 9 stone and ate nothing but soup and bananas.

I love my sport but I eat far too much,I can quite daily go out, run 20 miles then come back and eat 2000 calories to treat myself.

I want to get serious about my cycling this year and really need to cut down to do it. This board has given me inspiration to do something rather than just talk bout it, thank you so much!

I read an article for every lb you are over your fighting weight youn lose 10 seconds per mile, judging on my times that is right!

    ahh the skeksis ;)

low GI good, low fat bad - depression, constipation and body cells cant repair

if your training at that level you shouldn't have much problem loosing weight with the right food

Sorry I am being silly here, skeksis?

Yes it is a roughy to follow but I have lost 4 stone with it in the past so I know it works for me. I kept most of it off too until pregnancy and two desserts came my friend! God I love food!

she looks like one lol (google it)

loosing weight is not that tough if you can discipline yourself not to eat foods that make you fat (high GI), alas fat does not make you fat, and its unhealthy to avoid it, its a fallacy based on very bad science that's been a major part of the recent obesity epidemic

I have been eating tonnes of animal fat, incl a pint of whole milk a day and it does not impede my weight loss

    with difficulty

all you can really do is control what you eat to ensure your not eating quick release carbs

if your putting on weight odds are you are elevating your insulin levels

    Thanks, Eric.

No, I am not putting on weight but I don't seem to get it off either. Still stuck at around 73 kg.

I do not eat quick-release carbs. This morning, for instance, I had a boiled egg (protein) plus one slice of granary wholemeal bread toasted.

Just got back from my swimming lesson - did 30 mins swimming. I'm going to carry on with the swimming lesson once a week, not twice, but get down to the pool another 2 days for practice.

I've been referred by my GP to a dietitian - that was back in April, the appointment is this Friday. 3 months to wait for a dietitian's appointment in the NHS. I'm not convinced that they'll tell me anything I don't already know or can find out from sites like this.

I hope you mean Rc looks like one not me hahaha

You are right, discipline is the key, hence why i need a diet plan rather than healthy eating.

well lost another pound over night, weighing in at 11.3.5 this morning.

Have just got back from biking, 27.3 miles at a 15.1 mph average, 1100 calories burned, 400 calories consumed this far and still got 800 cals to play with! Please give me the strength to stick with it!

Was feeling faster on the bike today too, a couple of good sprints into a head wind, had a cafe stop but only for 15 mins and had black coffee!

There is also the possibility that you are not eating enough being so active and have shut down your metabolism

if i drop below 1800 cals a day my system implodes ...
