  • I think that you can get away with eating junk food when you are younger. I certainly could, but not any more!

In reply to what you eat when you fancy a sweet treat, I go for a couple of squares of dark chocolate. Sainsbury's now do a sugar free version. My fave treat is chocolate covered Brazil nuts, but they are not very slimming!

Another 3lbs off this week makes it worthwhile NOT eating my favourite sweet treats.

Have also started to use my WII fit that I have had since Christmas....:o

    Congratulations on the loss! :j

The sugar free chocolate sounds interesting, I'll have to look out for that one.

I'm also on low carb and would agree with most of that, although I tend not to eat apples as they can have 15-20g of carbs in them. They aren't really that bad for you, it just depends on how low you are going with your carbs.

I would move eggs to the 'fill up on' list as eggs are amazing! They have virtually no carbs and are really versatile, they are also very filling - which is always a good thing!

I would also eat beans and pulses more freely as they are a good source of fibre, and can also form part of your 5 a day, which is great when you are minimising the amount of fruit you eat.

I don't eat rice in general as it is very carb heavy, although am not familiar with wild rice, so can't really comment on it.

Other than that, the diet looks good, and it definitely seems to be working for you!

I'm not a size 8 so i do physically reflect what i eat, but i just wondered why all of that doesn't seem to effect me (in terms of weight gain)

Oh, and i thought someone posted an article on here that says age has nothing to do with weight? Hopefully i'll be lucky and stay this size for ever (i wish!) ha

Speaking of which, it's the 1st today so time to start a new exercise challenge! :D

I do like Efrieze's round the world idea, but I don't really want to do another jogging/walking challenge. Maybe we could all travel the distance, but using whatever method we want to use, such as jogging, bike riding, swimming, rowing, or whatever? Or would the distance be too difficult to do on some exercise machines?

Am working on something now so have 2 potential options based on Eurovision:

    Option 1
Pick your top 5 and travel to those countries

    Option 2
    Travel round all the countries

I'm trying to work out a way that a lot of people can have a go at this because if it's too far in distance some won't be able to - I may set up a couple of teams for these people to work together to do the options.

Let me know what you think?

Maybe we could plot the distance from country to country (could google the distance from one city to another to find this?) and do a kind of pub crawl style trek through them and see how far each person gets, marking down where each person is each week (a bit like the camps on the everest challenge?). A lot of the countries are small and quite close together so if we start somewhere that is close to lots of other countries then most people will be able to complete at least a few.

It does sound like a lot of work though, especially as there are 40 odd countries taking part, so maybe we should choose a few countries rather than all of them. Or maybe the 'Big Five' Eurovision countries, UK, Germany, Spain, France and Italy?

As for teams, maybe we could have walkers vs joggers vs bike riders, etc... if we have enough people on each team?
  • I used to eat a lot of rice too, but it is very carby! I didn't realise apples were so high in carbs either, but I still seem to lose if I eat one a day. Also have high(ish) cholesterol, and apples are meant to help to lower it.

I just have a salad, when I would eat rice.

What I've done so far is calculate the distance from London to cities in all the countries taking part - single trip starting at London each time.

Total milage for that is 46,122 miles.

Say we divide it by 1000 that makes 46.12 miles - or we can divide it by 2000 to make 23.06 miles to make it more manageable for some people.

I'm happy for people who want to make a team to do 23 miles between them.

You can swim, run, skip, walk, cross train, row or cycle the distance.

I'm up for being a team member this month if anyone wants to join me?
