I have a question on a similar vein!

Here is a junction. Can I take the turn marked in red? The lights are plain green with no filter arrows. There is a straight ahead arrow on the road - is it compulsory or advisory?

The path other vehicles take are marked in orange and blue.

The reason I ask is that the lights to turn left, with the filter arrow, only activate about 20 seconds afterwards, so vehicles turning left are held on red.

I've tried the sneaky turn twice with no problems.

Keep it up, you may find it's 3rd time (un)lucky;)

It's a chancers move really as the fact that you've done it several times shows

That aerial shot would be enough to prove liability at least in an insurers mind in my view. Not worth the risk chap;);)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Is that not a pedestrian crossing you are going through? The delay in the lights could be to allow pedestrians to cross.:naughty:

Suggest you read the introduction to the highway code, some of the rules are law.

Indeed, I agree..... some people really need to get the basics sorted before spouting off on here.;)

You seem to be being pedantic, you did say that the word of a driving instructor was somehow to be regarded as beyond reproach.

I didn't say a " driving instructor " I said a Grade 6 ADI ( the best ), he/she could be relied upon to give the definitive answer to this, he/she will be dealing with situations like this every working day.

Sorry, you are 100% wrong, you only need to bring your vehicle to a complete stop, handbrake not required, on either a standard ( L ) or advanced test, there is no difference.
Fair enough - I was taught it for the L test, so that was my instructor saying it rather than it being a test condition, I've never hear of anyone that hasn't been taught to pull the handbrake at a Stop. I'm in NI BTW so different standards may be being applied.
Good spot by myhoose with the pedestrian crossing, just makes that 100% wrong manouvre even more wrong!

I find it quite surprising, to say the least, that someone who claims to be an ex ADI cannot even understand the introduction to the H.C.

No wonder your silence on the subject of this thread, negotiating roundabouts and the H.C., has been deafening.

I suggest you read all of the introduction to the H.C. and try to understand it. You can then go to the section 'The road user and the law', which will further help you.

You may then begin to understand what is, to the vast majority of the motoring public, common knowledge.

Explains why some posters are so ill informed if they are receiving instruction on driving motor vehicles from people with such paucity of knowledge.

For reasons of road safety, I am hoping that the only driving instruction you have given has been on a golf course.

One of the reasons I rarely post in these threads is because you always get idiots like you that think they know it all.

Though I do not normally post anything other than the fact I was an ADI, just for your information as well as being a Grade 6 ADI who ran a successful driving school with a good high first time pass rate until I retired, I am also a member of RoSPA and taught for the IAM, however you always get fools that think they are experts who when they are wrong resort to personal insults and think sarcasm is funny when as everyone else knows it is the lowest form of wit.

I think my knowledge of the law, rules of the highway code and my driving skills would outmatch yours on any day of the week, ever thought how odd it is that everyone else is wrong and you are right, now run along and stop digging holes for yourself and stay in your dream world.

So do I, and I don't know you, however I would trust your judgement in preference to that of a Wooden Worktop expert any day of the week.

I keep telling him to stick with what he knows.

He has been on some so called AA Driving Course and he thinks that he knows it all.. :rotfl::rotfl:

I hate have to tell him that the AA rank very low within the industry.

I really do not care what he has done and what his opinions are, he made a statement that was wrong when it was pointed out to him he stoops to personal insults which has destroyed any credibility he may have thought he had, as far as I am concerned he is just trolling for the sake of it and I will not lower myself to his level.
