Recently I've had 3 items just dumped on my driveway. They weren't "signed-for" items, but they were too big to go through the letter box.
The last time the guy rang the bell and walked away immediately (I saw him from my bedroom window) got into his van and drove off. When I went down the box was sitting on my rain-soaked driveway. The previous time, there were two parcels jammed down the side of my wheelie bin. There was no knock or ring that time.
Either of those could have been taken by anyone!0 -

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, postie rang the bell, rattled the letter box and shoved the card through the door. I was at the door less than 5 seconds later (having run down the stairs and nearly killed myself!) to find he was nowhere in sight! They think because the house has a narrow front it is tiny but it's not, it's a bit of a tardis!
I complained at the sorting office only to be called a liar and this was his second attempt to deliver that morning - the first attempt he obviously didnt bother ringing the bell or knocking. The card had leave 1.5 hours written on it and when I tried to collect they said it wasn't back yet even though I could see it clearly on the shelves. This was 4 hours later!
Unfortunately RM is the only way to send parcels from this town in the back of beyond but guaranteed if there was another service I would be using it as I don't trust RM as far as I could throw them."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Ours used to say 24 hours but now they say 48 hours and even then sometimes its still not back.
DH used to be a postman and still knows quite a few people, he was talking to one recently who was saying the place is going downhill rapidly. They arent paying the wages they should be and our office is 120 people short! So some of our mail is going to Glasgow / Eninburgh to be sorted as there isnt enough staff up here!!!Bringing up 2 handsome boys and 1 gorgeous girl the MSE way!Joseph born 19th December 2001Matthew born 8th August 2007Tara born 23rd January 20110 -

We have the same problem here - if we post something locally it travels 100 miles to Carlisle and then 100 miles back again to get put through the letter box! Usually all my local stuff is going to the council and since they don't provide PPE envelopes anymore I use council fuel in a council car to deliver it when I'm working the nightshift. Very MSE!"Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

I have now been trying for 4 days to phone through to arrange a re-delivery. No-one is answering the phone!!! How on earth am I supposed to arrange it if no-one is answering. 4 days is pushing it a bit I think.0

AND.... it says on the card that you can arrange re-delivery online. When you go online, guess what, there is a notice saying it is not possible to arrange re-delivery on line ???????????????/????????????? aaaagghhh !!!!0 -
We regularly get mail that is addressed to other people at other addresses.
Recently we got a bundle of mail for our next door neighbours.
OH picked it all up and went outside to confront postie. He just shrugged his shoulders, took the envelopes and pushed them through neighbours door.
In our area they provide a very poor, unreliable service. I only use RM when there is absolutely no alternative. We all evolve - get on with it0 -
Very often I dont think they even bring the parcels because they are heavy and just put a card through. I know this for a fact because I happened to be going to the car that shocked him.
Or they keep a few and bring them about 7 on Saturday morning !!!
On my cards it is usually written 3 hrs but closer to Christmas it will be 24.

Just recently had a card through the door and it also said that redelivery can be arranged online, go to the royal mail website and find out that the facility won't be available until early next year !
On another note perhaps ordinary royal mail service would improve if they stopped using resources for the delivery of unaddressed door-to-door items eg. leaflets. However this is quite a big money spinner for them, but to Opt-out of receiving advertising literature, go to the following link :
