carl310166 wrote:So of all the people who have slagged off RM, how many have complained? (just ask your postman for the delivery office number) and were your problems resolved?
RM is like ANY company, even the Police force, there are some bad apples or things sometimes go wrong, it's unfortunate, but when you realise this, you may be a bit more tolerant.
Many companies have complaints procedures that get followed. They apologise if they find they are to blame and sometimes recompense for the incovenience or losses to the customer to maintain good customer relations and trust in their product or service. RM's response to complaints appears to be "thanks for your complaint, we've lost it sorry, that's just too bad".
My partner also had a parcel stolen a few years back. Even though my partner had his proof of postage, RM would not accept responsibility for the theft despite it being obvious that a member of their staff must have pilfered it because it mysteriously vanished somewhere between having been paid for and handed over at the post office counter and the sorting office. As they didn't begin tracking until the parcel reached the sorting office and it never made it that far they refused to accept liability, despite my partner having the proof of purchase, which apparently didn't mean anything as it just proved that he had paid for the postage not that he had posted it. They should check their damn CCTV
The day I become more tolerant of RM is when they provide a service that can be trusted and when complaints are dealt with in a professional manner.
You wouldn't expect to phone a taxi service and have the driver say the fare is £7. I might take you all the way where you want to go. But I might not. However, if you pay me an extra £3 I might look where I'm going. But if we still don't make it or I crash and rough you up a bit, I'm sorry but theres nothing I can do about it. I'll drop you back at the start and you are £10 worse off and you'll have to start again.
Maybe I'm just a bit funny in that when I pay for someone to deliver something, I expect it to actually arrive and in one piece**********************************************************************

I personally haven't had many problems with the royal mail myself. If there is a parcel for me, and it doesn't require a signature, the postman will often help me out and put it round the back of my house, in the shed or even IN THE HOUSE! (if the backdoor is open and sis is in bed or bath) bit scary when a parcel is left in your kitchen, by the back door or even once on the sofa!! ahaha. I don't really mind myself though.
However, recently a couple of times I have had packages just left by the front door, this is a bit worrying as anyone could take them (whereas, for some reason it feels a little safer round the back..) Also I think this has happened a couple of times when we have been in the house and he hasn't knocked?
I don't really know, maybe I just didn't hear it. I suppose he is really doing this for our benefit, he's probably realised we like our sleep in the mornings!!
Only bad thing about reading this thread is I am expecting three parcels anytime soon, all quite valuable, at least to me, and it has made me a bit worried!!
eeek.. but i'm sure it'll all be fine.0 -
RM take theft very seriously, so i can't believe they are not interested.
As for leaving parcels on the doorstep, that is not on,what did the delivery office manager say?

I complain everytime they lose a special delivery item or don't get a signature for an item i have sent by recorded post. The result? They now refuse to refund postage to me because "i have made too many complaints" !!!!!!? Hang on, THEY lose my special delivery item or THEY forget to get a signature after i have SPECIFICALLY PAID EXTRA FOR THIS SERVICE but they refuse to refund my postage costs when i have paid for service that they have failed to give me.
If there was any alternative to royal mail, then i'd be using it.0 -

a postie friend told me just how seriously. dismissal isn't always the last action. times aplenty the po will push the cps to pursue prosecution.
as for leaving parcels, posties are increasingly under pressure to meet deliv. targets. this will always lead to short cuts.
notwithstanding this and all the other shortcomings (real or perceived) I'd rather leave my post in the hands of rm than with murdochpost, bransondeliv or similar.miladdo0 -
Becles wrote:Technically that is wrong, but hubby pushed a few signed for things through doors on Friday and Saturday, when they looked like they were Christmas presents, otherwise people wouldn't have been able to collect them in time for the big day. Maybe your postie did the same?
