rm is absolutely useless. Fact. Bought a laptop on a Friday and knew it was going to arrive Monday via special delivery, but went away for the weekend. On the way back I went to the sorting office (half an hour from the house), gave them my name and address. Those idiots looked everywhere but because I didn't have a card they said there wasn't anything for me. So I went home. I got home, and guess what there was a card waiting. Rang them up and was told they couldn't find it and will call me back later. 20minutes later I received a call and they'd found it - it was moved to another room (seriously !!!!!! people tbh). So off I go back into town again.

There have even been occasions where the postman (think there are different ones different days of the week where I live atm) didn't even bother knocking; just basically looked through the kitchen window, saw that it was empty, left a card and went.

    Damn I hate rm!
i think to call someone only doing his job an idiot and !!!!!! just shows the mentality of some of the customers, like yourself that RM have to deal with.
I myself know for certain that i have knocked, rung many times on peoples doors only to have them go to the delivery office sayin"I was in and the postie didnt even knock", its easier to give you the item than it is to write out a card and take the item back to the office so why would he do that.

I got up this morning for the first time ever to find a red card on the mat.
It can't be my normal postman as he usually bangs on the door as he knows I am a lazy cow who would never be up at 9.40 on a Saturday morning.

So got to wait now to go collect on Wednesday :(
I think it is my Radio 1 prizes too

Of course it's a problem, unless you knew about him signing for it?

That is one of the problems with delivery staff who do "favours" for customers, if they sign for something themselves, then put in the letterbox, when something goes wrong, the postman is to blame. I would never do this for a customer when i did a walk,it's not worth it.

I must say, one of the problems with postmen is their obsession with making a bit of time, and finishing a little bit early.
For example, some postmen take their own cars on delivery,RM let it happen because it saves them a fortune in not having to transport the staff around, and the postmen take their cars becuase it saves them from going back to the office afterwards.....but wait until their cars gets broken into!!!! who's in the doo dah then?????

I've had a number of problems with RM recently.

At the end of October I had a building society passbook and cheque go missing, so I filled in a complaint form and handed it in at my local post office and have heard nothing since. I went in there a few days ago and asked about it and was told there's a 'big christmas rush'.

I've also had parcels left on the driveway recently, as other people have mentioned, without the doorbell being rung and no cards being put through the letterbox.

A christmas card that I sent also arrived at its destination after being ripped open, luckily there was no money in it.

No point complaining again as my first complaint hasn't even been dealt with yet.

I agree, completely useless Royal Mail!

Delivering billions of items perfectly every single year absolutley perfectly.

Slip ups happen in every company, it's not possible to ensure that every single member of staff is 100% honest.

As far as I'm concerned, Royal Mail are one of the best companies about in terms of what they do for what they charge.

I complain everytime they lose a special delivery item or don't get a signature for an item i have sent by recorded post. The result? They now refuse to refund postage to me because "i have made too many complaints" !!!!!!? Hang on, THEY lose my special delivery item or THEY forget to get a signature after i have SPECIFICALLY PAID EXTRA FOR THIS SERVICE but they refuse to refund my postage costs when i have paid for service that they have failed to give me.

If there was any alternative to royal mail, then i'd be using it.

You should take royal mail to court and sue for damages under the sales of goods act that does include services so rm will have to pay out or they could loss customers.
