Your mother is not trying to make a profit out of you she is trying to survive. She has a limited income and she may be afraid that once the savings run out then she will lose the house.

You say it is your home, well yes it is and its precious. Therefore you should be prepared to protect the family security as its all you have got. Your mother has looked after you in the good times and now she wants a bit of support for you in the bad times.

She is not profiting from you because if she does what you say she is doing and pays the mortgage with your money then one day you will inherit the house anyway.

All i can say is OMG. I hope this is just a wind up!
  • What a disgusting attitude the OP has!

I'm currently renting and paying over and above what the Landlord's mortgage payments are as I'm sure an awful lot of people are also doing. I don't mind doing this as he is charging market rent for the property and is a good landlord. It goes without saying that I would far rather be lining the pockets of a family member, and especially if they were struggling.

From what I know from friends renting rooms in London, the standard price is around £600 a month, add £100 + for council tax and bills and at least another £100 for food and £400 all-in sounds like an absolute bargain.

I know it's been said before, but seriously, GROW UP!!

What can possibly be the point of sitting down and creating a make-believe scenario?
What sort of enjoyment can they get out of that?

How incredibly sad and empty their lives must be.

I can only assume that they have little else, or no other, entertainment in their lives and this gives them something to do.

Assuming OP has given up but if not...

GET OUT GET OUT GET OUT!!!

Either accept the terms of living there, or leave. You are not a child, you are 23, how dare you assume your mother owes you a place to stay. If you leave your mum can get a lodger grateful for such a cheap place to stay.

I really think your mother should throw you out into the big wide world. She does not owe you a living. If your selfishness means your mother cannot afford to feed you and heat the house or provide the electricity to run all your stuff then you will be the first to complain I bet.

I personally think you should move out and let her have your room to rent out. You'll soon come scurrying back begging to pay just £400 a month all inclusive!

OMFG - what a first class spoiled brat you are. I cannot actually believe your attitude. I left home at 17 and paid my own way all the way every penny. Skipped Uni as I couldn't afford the fees or face the debt at the end and here you are refusing to pay £100 per week to your own mother to help with the mortgage and bills. You really are incredibly naive and I wish I could be a fly on the wall when you enter the real world!

Your thread has actually made me really angry. I hope you are still reading even if you have lost your bottle when it comes to posting! I want you to realise what a selfish girl you are and apologise to your mother for calling her a liar.
