You are asking to live in your mums house rent free....for how many more years? When most people your age have already left! Or if tehy are there pay the 1/3 that seems to be the accepted rate!!0 -
Sweetheart wrote: »Look - I have already said, the bills were over £1200 (with extras) but she only wants 1/3 of the utilities and mortgage. that is £400 each.
So we've finally got there!
Can't you see?
By asking you for 1/3 of the utilities and mortgage, she's not bloody scamming you!0 -

And £100 is reasonable, for £400 a month would your mum do your washing for you, cook your tea for you,
and if you moved into your frends place who would your washing, cook your tea for you, is there a washer in the friends place
did you show your mum the thread ?0 -

shes asking you to pay a third which is 400 which is exactly a third of your earnings and a thrid of your brothers wage but its easy to work out as theres 3 of you there0 -
it shouldn't matter if she is asking for more then the bills (even though she isn't at that price) You're 23 and living in her house she can set the "rent" at whatever she like.
Do you really think when you rent a house off someone you're paying them just what the mortgage costs on the house?Starting my DMP Journey.0 -
I think I have figured out how Sweetheart thinks her mum is being unreasonable....please correct me if I am wrong...
From your point of view sweetheart you said that your mums bills are £1200 a month yes?
She is asking you for £400 per month
Your brother pays £125 per month ( as per your first post )
Your mum pays £200 per month ( as per your first post )
obviously that leaves the shortfall - which you also said your mum covers with her savings.
But you see it as YOU paying more per month than your mum, don't you, because you say she only pays £200 ( forgetting about the £600 savings she is paying! )
So you are feeling it's unfair, because it looks like on paper you are the one paying the most when in actual fact it isn't.
Have I got it right?0 -
Sweetheart wrote: »I probably didnt get my point across as I wanted. My point was, if my friend can offer me an all in apckage for £500 - fopr everything - all bills - the lot, then how can my Mums monthly outcome be over £1200?
I tried to speak to her today and told her that I wanted to go back to Uni but she said she that has no bearing on what I give her.
because £500 won't be her outgoings - it will cover some of them though
My apartment costs  are approx £1000 a month. If a lodger moved in, I could charge them half of that to include rent and bills
I work really hard to get my gas, electric and every other costs down, but the mortgage alone is £5800 -

That's the only thing you've said on this thread that I agree with!
It's incredibly rare to read a thread that runs to 8 pages and over 150 replies in the space of 3-and-a-half hours where EVERY reply disagree with the OP's viewpoint.
I just hope you now do what you said in your original post and show this to your Mum.0 -

Sweetheart - what will you do when your mum decides that she can no longer afford to run a 3 bedroomed house, sells it and moves into a 1 bedroomed flat?
Because that is what will hapen!0
