Surely this is a wind up??
Your freinds place at £500 a month i still more than your mums at £100 a week, but that aside...I think your mum is damn right to ask for a fair contribution. If you don't want to pay her mortgage - pay your own instead - I doubt you will get much for what she is asking.People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

They add up to over £1200 a month but some of it is her extra stuff like the car, pet insurance etc0

Sweetheart, can't you see how hilariously funny this sounds. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Why should the woman who brought you into the world, brought you up, possibly funded you through Uni care about your future when you don't seem to have a caring bone in your body for her?0 -
My masters will cost me a thousands and I'd have to give up work or work part time. Surely any mother would see that its important.I just dont think its fair shes not taking this into account0

Even if this is a wind-up, the OP might well have unwittingly done a real service to anyone reading this who is in a similar situation and feels hard done by. Though there are many young responsible adults out there, there are also those who don't have a scooby about how much real life costs and feel it's their parents responsibility to support them ad infinitum. All those posters who have rightly pointed out the reality on this thread may have opened these young adults' eyes, and possibly also given food for thought to some well meaning but over indulgent parents.0

My God! This is like pulling teeth!
Take off the personal things like the car, pet insurance (unless it's YOUR pet, in which case YOU ahould be paying that) and any other bill that is not house-related.
How much is your Mum paying out each month?0 -

You're not a child any more. I'd have sympathy if you were 17, but you're an adult and you need to learn stand on your own two feet. Get a grip.0
