I also have a 3 bedrooms house and my gas alone is £30 a week, another £15 for electric and another £15 for water....then there is also rent, coucil tax, phone, tv and internet, insurance, food, then all the extras that come up when something breaks etc

    Oh, Taliahmai
You're really paying far too much for your gas.

You really ought to take advice from the OP's friend who says for a 3 bedroom house it should be more like £20 per month. :rotfl:

In fact, maybe Sweetheart's friend ought to be running this website instead of :money:.

i think £100 a week is reasonable for that area, you get a roof over your head, 4 walls, your own room, use of tv, computer etc

are you aware of what you would ned to buy if you moved out,

I can't see what the problem is.

    £1200 divided by 3 = £400

The going rate for "keep" is one third of your income, which is ......£400!

Why do you think your mum would try to "scam" you? Like most parents, she probably wants to keep the mortgage on the house so that she has something to pass onto you and your brother when she is no longer around. It's your future that you're protecting, if you'd rather give the money to a landlord, live in a place the size of a rabbit hutch and spend the rest on alcohol and handbags, that's up to you.

You'd better just hope that she doesn't leave the house to your brother!

    :rotfl::rotfl:

ps, I live in a two-bedroomed terrace in the cheapest part of London and my monthly outgoings are around £1200 for 3 of us. And I'm a cheapskate!

Is there a specialist letting agency for residences under bridges?

I've asked the OP to check what her Mum's outgoings are:

If she can prove that the £100 per month that her Mum is asking her to contribute is in excess of her Mum's total outgoings, I'm more than happy to 'tone it down'.

It's over £1200 according to the budget. Council tax alone is £160 a month on budget but seems a lot to me.

She says that she will still be short by £600 a month and she is paying this shortfall from her savings.

To be honest - thats not my concern. Its still her house.

well its your house as well and your brothers,

£100 is nothing when you earn 1200 a month,

why do you not want to pay £100 for your share of the mortgage
