Should have reported this to the Police as a possible offence under the 1997 Protection from Harassment Act, as well as possibly threatening behaviour. But if you did actually tell him to 'pi55 off', he might have a valid complainnt against you."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
Sounds like the same crew. Surely, seeing as they knocked on your door and not you on theirs, they should be prepared to put up with someone telling them to piGG off - after all they are lying and attempting to rip you off for damaging your property. Sometimes, when a cold caller phones me, I tell them I haven't got a phone. I tell doulble glazers I have no doors or windows. If I get another of these protective wall coatings guys at my door, maybe I'll say I don't have any walls. But this guy was nasty.0

I would have reprted mine, at least complained to his company - if I'd had the sense to keep the 'voucher'. I hope their 'inspectors' come next week when I'm in and then I can get the company name.0

I do have sympathies for people who are desperate enough to try to make living, but when it involves being insulting and shouting, I don't like it. Te other night I had a phone call from someone who asked me to do a survey over the phone. He said it was for a government department. But when I asked which government department, he didn't know, but pressed on to get me to do the survey. So I said I'd love to, provided he told me how much I'd be paid for doing it. When he said he couldn't pay me, I politely told him I wouldn't waste any more of his time and hung up. After all, if he is being paid whilst phoning me, shouldn't I be paid too?0

I just answer the door and say to them "I am not in".
It leaves them speechless.
The ones who do begin to babble just hear me continue to say "I am not in" ....they soon leave when they think I am a nut case.0 -
We had one of these chumps come round to visit us at our first house (back to back property built in 1895)
After zapping his little Maplin electronic device at our wall and making a few beeping noises he told us that we had wet walls (It was p**sing it down at the time!)
Well we had to act quickly (gasp) our mortar was about to come stampeding from between the stones (shock) and our ikkle home would be a pile of powder before our very eyes (scream!)
He showed us lots of touched up photographs (my husband is a graphic designer and wrote the bloody book on retouching photographs!
Well to put this devastating damage right it was going to cost.......
wait for it........
are you sat down?
£16,000!
Needless to say we were still rolling around with laughter on the floor when he sheepishly left.
...Linda xxIt's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
to the OP, if you want the name of the company then you could have a word with some of your neigbours, the guy was probably going door to door and someone will still have the leaflet (voucher) or will have remembered the name.Bought, not Brought0

You wont be laughing when your house turns to powder, I would have paid him the £16,000 to cover the house with gooey muck, after all, what is the price of piece of mind....I bet your bricks are the type that absorb water?
They are the worst kind.
Next time it rains have a look at how wet the bricks get. Then imagine how much damage that is doing to your brick work.

I know, I mean, Yorkshire stone! the house may as well have been built from sponges glued together!
