I always tell any sales people that we're moving house.0

Isnt it odd that all the titles on these posts that had "protectacoat" were removed?
Shall I tell you why?
Well, they have probably "leaned on" the forum owners to remove it, as they have done on several other consumer led forums online, places where consumers who have been ripped off post their comments , like this one.
. The amount of bad press protectacoat have got through their shoddy practices is astounding and they seem to have employed someone to go around the net removing stuff, sort of a damage limitation exercise!!!!!!!!
The same person is also allegedly posting bogus positive comments too. How totally sad and underhand. Sums up the company totally.
If you want a protective wall coating on your home, dont be so gullible as to buy when someone turns up out the blue on your doortep, in fact NEVER buy from the doorstep.
If you want a protective wallcoating, select a few companies online and invite them for quotes, and then decide in your own time........oh and protectacoat will charge 20 grand for a job that should only cost 5 grand. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!0 -
Glad I did a bit of reading up on this lot. Currently operating in the Southport area. Also noted the dead links from various posts and was thinking exactly the same. If you can't handle customer feedback in areas where free speech should rule then it is quite possibly because you are dodgy.
Have instructed my mum to politely turn them away. God help them if they get pushy....dog hasn't eaten so well this week.......0 -
Protectacoat:rotfl:
A few years back we needed the current rendering repaired.
Protectacoat done door to door and I invited them back for an appointment. We lived in a 3 bed semi so I wanted the back, side and front done.
Process was explained. Scaffold up, at least two men, a weeks work. I was happy with process (which we went into in great detail) and we were ready to buy.
Then the price came:rotfl: From memory it was £17K:rolleyes: But... (you knew a but was coming didn't you:rotfl: ) if we signed now then it was £15K.
From then on it was high pressure. We have a policy of never ever ever signing on the night and I'm always upfront about this. I like to think it over and if I want it I'll call them the next day.
The price kept dropping until we reached something like £6-8K. He was shown the door and then I started googling them. Five minutes later we had decided not to progress.
Two weeks later a Protectacoat van turns up outside... the elderly couple four doors down had signed up. No saffold and one man with a ladder, two days later it was finished. I made some gentle enquiries as to what they paid. £15K it was. I didn't have the heart to tell them about my experience with them0 -
Thank you for updating this post ref protectacoat and i am disgusted to hear they are still up to their old tricks.
I have written many articles for consumers magazines and websites about protectacoat and they obviously dont listen to potential customers, they just carry on ripping people off. Let me run through what your OAP neighbours money went to.
TOTAL protectacoat textured wall coating SALE 15,000- REPS COMMISSION, prob about 1500 (more if sold on finance, even more if sold with payment protection)
- Materials and equipment for job: approx 1500 maximum
- Advertising cost per "lead", about 100
- Admin allow another 50
- Payment to SELF EMPLOYED PARTNERSHIP fitters (NOT employed: i can provide links where they lost a court case about this) 2000 maximum.
I will also reiterate i am not having a go at their quality of work, i dont have that info in front of me to comment on that.....................
And i will also say that if you want a protective wall coating on your home, you can get the same or similar job on your home for on average around 5 to 7 grand maximum, by an established, high quality company.
Makes you think doesnt it.......................0 -

I'm a very, very, unhappy customer of protectacoat. Thankfully having done research, sadly after they'd done one of my walls, I realised I'd "only" overpaid by about £1000. I paid about 20% of the original quote. It was the messing around over the finance, which I paid off immediately, wihout an early charge, that really !!!!ed me off to beign with. I had to argue a while for that, before they sorted that.
Then when they came back to cost for the rest of the house they wouldn't shift from an extraordinary price. So now I'm suspicious of all these "textured wall coating" firms and am unsure how to proceed. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Hey hold on a sec, not all wallcoatings companies are the same, in fact far from it! Protectacoat are the exception to the rule here, which is why so many people go on the internet and discuss them!!!
believe it or not there are some very professional ones out there, who visit your home, measure up and do a proper survey, and then prepare the price for you with no gimmicks. and they dont hard sell.0 -

I know, I just would like to find them. Sorry if I came across as being critical of all of them, I just approach all of them with a great deal of fear and trepidation.0 -
I'd personally go for a paint such as Sandtex Masonry Paint, and either apply it myself or give the job to a recommended tradesman.0
