Thats fair enough, but good luck with having to have it done every couple of years, you may be suprised in the long run how much thats gonna cost you. Buy cheap, buy twice!0

I know, I just would like to find them. Sorry if I came across as being critical of all of them, I just approach all of them with a great deal of fear and trepidation.
And I have now decided to try and find some. Following Mr Bell's advice on a previous post I am going to get three (actually 4, as I'm going to get a builders quote for a simple pebbledash) quotes from some firms. I will try wethertex, found a few reasonably positive reviews that don't seem to have been written by employees of the company; Never Paint again, I believe a company with some links to a regular poster on threads about textured wall coatings on this site. I am wondering about one more to try, any suggestions? I'll let people know how I get on. It seems very hard to get any honest reviews on these products, guessing there isn't a Which guide.
fat-tony....
P.S.
anyone know how protectacoat are coping with the tightening of credit loan criteria?0 -
Fair enough, good luck! Yes i would always reccomend getting a small handful of quotes.
and as far as how protectacoat are doing, i haven't a clue, but probably not very well.
I dont know if anyone else could comment on that?..................................................... there's probably the same person who works for them lurking on this, or other forums posting bogus customer testimonials (allegedly), so wait and see what they say in reply.0 -
Have decided to carry on posting about my "quest" it really feels like that, on the "quote" board, as it'd be harsh to keep mentioning the companies I'm getting in to quote me in "warnings," unless they do anything I feel people need warning about.

No i'm not a bl***y spam merchant, i have never spammed in my life and despise those who do so. Now stop being so silly.0

Hi hows your quest going.
I too am trying to find a decent reputable company to carry out rendering works on my property but am becoming increasing wary due to web forums & complaint sites that infer that certain companies liquidate themselves & change their names to avoid having to be liable for their '15 - 20 yr' guarantees. I have carried out as many back ground checks as i can on companies before deciding not to contact them, like checking them out on Companies House only to find out that 'they have been rendering houses since 1963' but yet they have only been registered for 6 months or so. The web forum

opened my eyes, it also lists some names of companies and individuals to avoid.
Can anyone recommend a decent company????????0 -
handyandyspark - I think fat-tony and (the now PPR'd) mrbell made a good point when they mentioned getting a few quotes.
Are there any friends or neighbours around you who've had the walls coated recently? If so, you could ask them for recommendations. I'm not sure how useful the Yellow Pages/Thomson local could be as they just list businesses.
Watchdog showed a few years ago how easy it is to get into some of these trade associations/guild organisations - they managed to get an entire primary school class enrolled into the Guild of Master Craftsmen; even the class' pet hamster!0 -
Mothballs,
I am relatively new to this forum but sometimes get a little frustrated and annoyed when i see all this 'texty' language.
I am enjoying this thread, but pray tell me what is 'PPR'd' as in your last post.

Posting privileges removed, in other words banned from posting on the forum.
I'm usually pretty good at working out these abbreviations but this one is not very obvious really, I had to find out from someone else as I couldn't work it out.0 -
