Got to go to Aldi today to pick up some bits not a lot needed though and we have spent a lot so far this month so time to cut back before the gas and leccy bills in - and they reckon that they are going up again we can't keep up so how on earth are the poor and elderly supposed to manage
The car tax reminder came yesterday and that has gone up as well
Dinner tonight is left over beef and gravy with brussels, cauli and roasties for those not on a low carb diet.
Well must go get ready have good days all xBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi all
I've followed the thread (on and off - I sometimes have trouble finding it) for a few years now and thought I'd say hi.
I've managed to half my outstanding debt and have set a target that my Virgin Credit Card (down to £349 from £3200) and my overdraft of £1440 will be paid off by the end of the year - but I am really feeling like I'm swimming upstream at the moment. I am trying so hard and it just feels like people are taking it all off me so I'm getting nowhere. My prescription charges have doubled (I went for a review and the GP said that it was not ethical to have me on a bi-monthly repeat - even though I've been on this medication with no problems at all for the last 10 years - so has put me on monthly repeat), the prescription charges are going up, fuel prices are nothing short of extortion, food prices are shooting up, car tax is increasing, I dread to think of what the council tax will be this year. I saw on the new last night that gas & electric are expected to rise by an average of £172 per household. In addition my food prices will be doubling next month as my 20-year-old stepdaughter is coming back from a gap year trip and absolutely refuses to eat anything except junk food (and branded junk food at that) and my DH says that she should get this as it is not her fault that we are in debt!!! She sits around the house watching tv and with the heating on full blast all day so my fuel prices are probably going to double too..... I'm just feeling a bit defeated at the moment.
Maybe I'm just on a bit of a downer at the moment - but was wondering how everyone else is managing as I'm feeling extremely demoralised at the moment.

Morning all  still grey here but no longer foggy/misty.Have put some sheets out on the line they may dry enough just to need a quick blast in the td. Another bad night sleep last night:mad: have no idea whats going on but am going to have to get an appointment with gp can't be dealing with this every night.Have a person from young offenders coming later:eek: dont panic boys haven't done anything wrong.Part of there scheme is to get some of the young offenders to pay their debt to society by helping ppl do things like painting ,gardening etc.Well I would like to paint my bathroom and they are getting one of the offenders who is doing a painting and decorating course to come and do it .
Dinner is pasta and something
Hope all are well and have a good Thursday:)Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
Good luck with your interview BB thinking of you and wishing you well x
Welcome BDF, pleased to meet you. Well done for tackling the debt head on, it is so easy to bury one's head in the sand.
Welcome too Saveaholic. Wishing you coping vibes. Everyone here is very friendly.
Uolypool what a good idea, training them so they can earn for themselves in future and helping out in society. I've not heard of this (apart from community service orders.)
Right, going to hang out washing and be hopeful, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Morning
Well the sun is trying to get through the clouds, I checked the weather forcast last the night and saw that it should be dry today so I put a washing on as I went to bed, so just going to hang that out.
Chicken is in the oven for dinner tonight, it's Karate night and swimming night for the kids so need to have dinner as soon as they get in from school. I am helping out at the school this afternoon so need to be organised.
Other than that not much else to report.
Have a good day.Feb 2012 Grocery Challenge £200/£4.00

I don't know if it is nationwide or just what our local young offenders team does.I only found out about it when my garage was broken into and my sons bike stolen (for the first time).They found the person who did it and he went to court and was given a referral to the young offenders unit as part of his punishment .We had to attend a meeting where he apologised to my son and myself for the theft and then they do other things with him and try to rehabiliate (sp) him. They are supervised whilst they are in someones house working at all times , and I am happy that I am able to give him some experience for his course .Paul Walker , in my dreams;)0 -
Morning :hello:
Good luck BB
I have a jobIt was already mine, but now it's official. I start at the end of April, so I have six weeks all to myself. No more getting down while searching for jobs, asking for 'retail in Glos' and being presented with 'dentist in Bristol'
I'm already wondering if they'll let me have a little corner to sell my cards............
I really need to get the greenhouses sorted, I'm a bit behind this year. Seeds and trays are at the ready. I let the chickens use the greenhouses in the winter so they're in a right mess, I need some motivation to get it all cleared up. I've bought some wire fencing to go across the garden. The girls have eaten every single blade of grass, it's just bare mud now. Once the fence is up and the girls are reigned in a bit, we'll put grass seed down on 'our' side. It'll be nice to sit in the garden without having to clean the chairs off firstBulletproof0 -

What fantastic news Tru, I'm happy for you:)
Washing is on the line but it's freezing out there so I don't know how dry it will get.
Should do some work planning but am going to make chicken & mushroom mixture for later instead;)
Cheers peeps, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.
