Hi, this is the Daily Thread for thursday 17th march This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good morning Sistercas and all to follow,

    Happy St. Patrick's day.

I am just listening to the news about Japan, the dead and missing, the nuclear problems and the difficult wintery situation of the displaced survivors. They are all in my thoughts and prayers.

On a lighter note, it is cool and overcast here. Come back blue skies and sunshine.

Dinner today is chicken and mushroom pie. Need to get some mushrooms - will look at the yellow label area first:)

Intending to do work planning and housework today. Will be optimistic and put a wash on with the intention of pegging it out :)

    Take care peeps,
Happy Thursday, hugs to those that need or want, Silver x

Off to work soon, I had a better night last night as I slept through from 11 til 5.
Off to the place of joy called work soon, I wonder where the axe will fall next. Some people who think they are safe from redundancy are in for a shock, warnings are being given about excess sick leave, we have at least 6 members of staff who never complete a full week & they have had verbal & written warnings & been sent to Occ Health, they all claim that they can't help being ill, but don't have any underlying illness, they just take time off for coughs, colds & tummy upsets that everyone else just gets on with. I think they can & will be dismissed if they don't improve their attendance but they all say that they can't be sacked for being sick.
We had lamb chops & potato dauphinoise with broccoli & carrots last night, tonight it is sausage & mash.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all.

Another disturbed night. DC2 was sick again so I am going to ring the Dr.'s this morning as it is 3 nights in a row. First night was 2 am, second was 1am and last night was 12am, so we are getting earlier each night. He seems to do it in his sleep.

It's daft because during the day he is his normal self. He is hungry, he needs to eat. He is bright, chatty, normal. It is just at night in bed. He vomits once and that is it, he has a shower and dries himself, gets clean pyjamas on and then goes back to sleep again. It is so odd.

Good Morning chums, school run with the boys followed by a college run for DGD then a trip to the libray as i need some books for my last Uni essay which i must get started on today.I made a huge vat of leek and potato soup last night which used up some of the surplus potatos and also made a big pot of mash for the rest.what didn't get used were made into round scoops of mash and put to open freeze in my freezer .All spuds used up and no waste .
Tonight I have a sheps.pie for dinner from the freezer and I may make a jelly to go into the fridge for pudding.
Apart from that not a very exciting day today.looking out of the window its looking quite grey and dull looking roll on the spring this winter has lasted far too long I think
    have a good day everyone

    Good Morning:wave:
I had a very bad night's sleep. It took me until 3.30am. I reckon it was all that new blood coursing through my veins :T:T:T I want to thank all of you guys who donate a pint here and there. As blood is the elixir of life YOU make a very big difference. Unfortunately I cannot donate so my appreciation is heartfelt:):):)

I am aiming to make some tray bakes today with some help from DD. It's the last day of one of my groups and I will miss the other people who attend very much. I need to get some strawberry flavouring so will go and get that early. Need to be out of the kitchen early as my dear cleaner is coming today to work her magic. It feels very cold today but lets hope it warms up soon.

    Hugs xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Good morning all.
Every day since Christmas I have read about what everyone's up to each day on this lovely warm thread, and today I am taking the plunge and joining in. I will tell you a bit about me and mine first so I am not a stranger to you! Married for 15 years, have 14 year old gorgeous daughter. I have always received the MSE email at work, but since Christmas this year it has been my bible, as husband dropped a bomb on me that he was £38K in debt! Had our LBM, pulling together to sort out the debt. We both work full time, and its not insurmountable, and already have wiped over £14K off this already by cashing in some endowments. All the big changes are done, so now I am relying on you lovely people to teach me your ways! (and also your abbreviations!!)

so on with the normal stuff: Did two loads of washing last night which is drying on the clothes horse indoors (only use TD for undies nowadays) Brought OHs budget update so he knows exactly what to pay and when.
grey and foggyish here today, not a pleasant walk to work when its like this.
Dinner tonight is Aldi pizza for Daughter (DD?) as she has mad dash to guides tonight, and an omelette for us, to use up the few leftovers in the fridge.
just going to make up our packed lunches now, then off to work

have a good day all x

Welcome BedDebtFree - we're a friendly lot on here, hope you find some ideas/tips to help x

Dull, wet and miserable here this morning. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock. Dinner last night was delicious fish, enjoyed very much, with a jacket potato, corn on the cob and green beans, the man/boys had oven baked battered fish, chips, baked beans/veg.

Now on day's off so normal chores to be done, but have an appointment at the bank this morning at 9am, just a review, our bank does it once a year, I just go to make sure I'm getting the best possible service/deals etc.

DS2 had a bit of an accident at school on Tuesday, he was playing with a group of other children and one of the others lifted him up on his shoulders, DS2 fell forwards and scrapped his face on the concrete, ouch!, also is complaining that his back is now aching, so have checked him over there's no bruising or anything that concerns me, so shall just keep a close eye on him for the next few days, and he won't be playing Rugby this weekend, just to be on the safe side. I have to hand it to the school though, I got a telephone call from the Headteacher to explain what had happened and what they were doing to avoid it happening again.

Dinner tonight is chicken casserole, mash and veg. Hoping to get some baking/cooking done later as tins are empty and I detect some mutiny amongst the ranks! (As per normal DH being worse than the boys!!)

    Best get myself into gear.

Not much else to say really, keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them.
