We get council tax benefit which covers the full amount and free school meals for the kids.0

then why are you complaining about the £1 IS?
i just did a quick tally up and from april you will be getting in excess of £350 a week without ctc and cb!!0 -
Our problem is that we will not be getting the £1 IS. I'm not complaining I just don't understand it.
Obviously not receiving IS will mean we will not be able to get Council Tax Benefit or Free School Meals.
In past years when benefits have risen in April it has never caused a dramatic change in circumstances.
I certainly don't want to be claiming anything it's entirely due to an uninsured unlicensed (in the EU) dangerous driver that has put my family in this awful position.
There is no-one to ask they shut down the local Job centre a couple of years ago the Advice Center is in Swansea 45 miles away.0 -

You will still receive full if not about99% of the Council Tax benefit and will still be entitled to free school mealsForums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

A client's child who is at school will be eligible to receive free school meals if the client is entitled to CTC but not WTC, and the award is based on a gross annual income of £16,190 or less.
I read your assessed income will be approximately £2800 CA and £6500 IB therefore you should meet the criteria.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0 -
You need to get the wife to stop claiming the carers allowance for the child and re-claim it for looking after you, then you claim carers allowance for looking after your son, although you will not get paid it due to your IB you will then get an extra £30 weekly income support, sorted.0

he can only claim carers for his son if it doesnt contradict his own documented care needs0
