As stated I receive £128 incapacity benefit & the other income they include in the calculation is the Carer's Allowance my wife receives for my oldest son £55.55 (new rate from 6th April)
My DLA (Care) & DLA (Mobility) £47.80 & $49.85 respectively are not counted.
My wife also receives Child Benefit £47.10 which in 'not counted' also.

the increase in the carers allowance will take you over the thershold that is set for what a couple in your circumstances are deemed to need. it suck's but a line has to be drawn somewhere i suppose.

how much IS are you getting at the moment?

I am getting £1 IS at the moment it looks as if the carer's allowance has been increased as of 6 April but nothing else. I thought most benefits increased by the lowest rate of inflation at the same time.

i just had a quick look and it says long term incapacity benefit is going up from £91 40 to £94 25.
i assume that this is for a single claimant.

the changes might come on a different day, so thats why you havent heard about them yet.

It's a mystery I've just used the DOE on-line benefit advisor & according to that we should actually receive more IS than we get now.
It must be that Carer's Allowance paid to my wife for our disabled son now classes as income. It doesn't at the moment but obviously changes in the budget.
Still I guess I have to help pay the 'Bankers Bonus' somehow.

So at this present moment in time you get £1 IS and after April once your benefits increase you no longer get your £1 IS. Such a hardship.

CA has always been used as income so I guess you don't pay the "banker's bonus" Some people don't have the first clue.

I'm looking at the statement of 'How your Income Support was worked out' that is in force at the moment and the carers allowance paid to my wife for our son is not mentioned. I have not had to supply any income details since my accident. They get all the details from 'the system', my wife receives nothing other than CA & CHB + my sons DLA.
As usually seems to be the case reams of paper are sent out mostly saying the same thin BUT nothing explains the change of income 'I told them about'
My reference to the 'Bankers' is tongue in cheek but refers to this government's LIES when IDS said that the changes wouldn't leave the disabled worse-off!
