To all the posters who are criticising the relationship OP has with her DSD, I have to inform you that they do have a really good relationship, and she is like a Mum to her.:D
She was only asking for advice, and tbh I think some of you are being a bit harsh and unfair on her:(:(

So could you tell us how tall is the girl, then? OP hasn't been back since early on; and, to be fair to other posters, it did seem like she was leaving because most people did think she was being OTT.

BTW - I fall into the "surprised when I saw the dress" category. I too expected something either 'wedding-dressy' or really tarty. I personally like the dress and would be fine with my 22 year old daughter wearing it. She's Size 8 and 5' 7".

As they do have a good relationship then could DSD not just try it on and them decide together?

I think its a lovely dress and far better than many 16 year olds would choose. But, if you feel it is inappropriate perhaps a word with her just to say "its lovely, but do you think its a little short?" to see what she says? Anyway, she might not like it once she tries it on!

I think it is a gorgeous dress. I was expecting to see something awful going by your worry about it in your OP. She certainly wont upstage the bride. I would wear that to a wedding and if other people made a fuss Id think they were jealous of my figure tbh.

I agree it does look a bit short I wore something a bit like that (ie came just below my bum) to a wedding but I wore leggings with it but other than that I think it looks nice, makes a change for a young girl to pick something that covers her boobs up.

I have found on here that when people ask for advice people can be very rude with it, people ask for an opinion but don't want to be insulted

I don't like the dress personally, but that's because it's not my style. :p

Anyway, I guess you could compromise and she could wear the dress over smart trousers or black tights? I usually do the over trousers thing when I've bought a dress that's too short but I adore. :)

On my wedding day, so many of the guests wore outfits that could be deemed a bit OTT (using that term loosely lol) but I didn't think they were upstaging me. People just want to look their best for special occasions. Actually, I commented to quite a few of my guests about how awesome they looked. :o

I don't really know why I feel the need to defend myself...for starters I am not a biatch as some have said. I do not also think I am the fashion police...sorry not to reply to all the insults but I CBA.

For those who you who are actually interested (rather than pulling me to shreds) ......Update....went out for tea with DSD tonight and she bought the subject of the dress up, she likes the dress but feels it is too short, and yes she is the same height as the model.....she now says could she have a 'posh frock' for the church and reception and change into this dress or something like it for the evening disco. I said that was fine and we are going out and doing posh frock/disco frock shopping together, we will take OH, but he is there just to carry the bags lol. We have been trawling the net tonight and have a few things in mind, I know I won't get it all my own way, you want to see the hat she thinks I should have!

Oh and she wants us to go for one of those fish things where they eat your feet after the shopping trip, ok she can have fish eat her feet...no way are they coming near mine lol. And incase any of you still think I hate her, we have had our ups and downs but I have been part of her life since she was 8 years old, she made the most beautiful birthday card for me earlier this month and wrote lovely things even saying how we had our ups and downs. We get on great, hence me and her going out together for a pub meal tonight.

Glad things are getting there. :) I like the idea of the two different outfits. One of my guests did that. Although, she had her boobs out in both the wedding outfit and the evening outfit and she's not exactly...small... lol.

As for the fish eating thing, my friend had that done. She swore it was really relaxing. I still have yet to be convinced but may try it if I'm feeling adventurous...
