anyway, maxi dresses are sooooooooooo last season :rotfl::rotfl:
And I always feel like I look like I'm wearing a tent.
I'm not particularly short, but it doesn't seem to be a look that I can pull off. lol
And as for flat shoes, I am just so glad that they became very fashionable again as the choice of styles has increased dramatically in the last 5 years or so. I have some gorgeous flats.
Delain - I can't imagine wearing heels to do something like the school run. I'd be so uncomfortable, and you're more likely to find me in trainers for something like that! haha. I'd live in my trainers if I could! But then, I'm also not someone who likes to wear make up for day to day stuff. I only bother with important work meetings and evenings out/special occasions, or when OH and I are sharing a romantic night inFebruary wins: Theatre tickets0 -
Oh I don't know, don't ask me, I get my t shirts from sainsburys and know nothing at all about fashion.
In fact I sit in town waiting for buses looking at fashionably dressed girls thinking
'Have they not got a mirror at home, if they had seen what they looked like they would have got changed'
in much the manner of an old woman.
I do that sometimes, depends what they're wearing. But I bet others thought the same about me when I was their age.
I look back at certain pics of myself and think 'What the h'll are you wearing! Cover yourself up woman!' :rotfl::rotfl:
It's not that I'm a prude now, but I've learnt to appreciate that showing off so much flesh isn't necessary and only ever attracted the wrong type of guy.
Who was it who posted the 'Either clevage or legs, but not both' comment? Soooo true, and something I stick to now, but didn't when I was younger!February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I used to have it all on show as well
I do find it amazing when you see very large ladies in leggings ( I won't wear them at a 16) and they look like they have a sack of spuds down their trousers
It's just amazing that 'fashion' these days is so unfavourable to everyone who isn't a size 8, and that bigger people are so keen to wear 'fashion' that they disregard how they look. Madness on both counts.
Everyone seems to look the same these days, it makes me sad.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I am a 16 and do wear leggings.. mainly as nothing else fits right now.. but I always always wear something midthigh length as well.. I may as well just wear tights but leggings are warmer..
I think tops where the gut hangs out should be banned.. all sizes and pregnant women with their belly out in the street makes me heave.. I hate bellies... and it should be illegal for men to be shirtless in the street too.. boobs and legs are fine... if you got it flaunt it... but please put your belly away.. lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Oh I can't stand leggings! Or tights for that matter, as I find them sooo uncomfortable! I only ever wear them under my work trousers in winter to keep warm!
I'm a size 10 and I still wouldn't wear them without a skirt or something over the top part, as I don't think they're particularly flattering to anyone (regardless of size) and I feel too exposed.
I bypass a lot of fashion these days as I don't like a lot of it, or, if I do, it doesn't suit me! lol.
PigPen - you hate bellies? I love bellies. Toned ones that is and pregnant bellies. And I think belly buttons are dead s'xy.

Pigpen there are a few bigger ladies round here, much bigger than a 16 and the wear leggings with little tops and hoodies, either leggings or trackie bottoms, and they have size denial so the leggings are about a 14 and sooo stretched they are almost see through
As I said I'm no expert but wow they look scary
Mid thight length tops look better, that's what my friend wears.

They might wear the same style of clothes, but they don't all look the same. Except in their minds, maybe.I think tops where the gut hangs out should be banned.. all sizes and pregnant women with their belly out in the street makes me heave.. Bare midriffs are supposed to be back 'in' for Spring/Summer 2011. Personally I like to see a well toned tum. I do agree though, that it is a style that doesn't suit everyone. Perhaps a licensing system should be introduced together with muffin top free zones to protect onlookers' sensibilities.
Unfortunately, too many people, particularly overweight teenage girls, slavishly follow fashion without considering whether, or not, the current trend suits their body shape.0 -

I find a lot of those women going round Asda, they wear leggings when really their bottoms and legs would look far better in other styles put it that way....
I couldn't go back to leggings now, my legs were always a bit more on the chunkier side but now i have fluid accumulation in them my knees wouldn't look pretty. Mum says i notice more than others....
I would love to wear skinny jeans with boots but i've yet to get a pair past my thighs in some normal jeans let alone skinnies and i'm a size 10....
and personally being prudish i don't like pregnant women bearing all in the street or wearing such tight clothes they ride up, it's a bugbear of mine...0 -
To all the posters who are criticising the relationship OP has with her DSD, I have to inform you that they do have a really good relationship, and she is like a Mum to her.:D
She was only asking for advice, and tbh I think some of you are being a bit harsh and unfair on her:(:("You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
