As already said Willie Keep up .. Im sure by now he's bedded down with the wildlife and nothing CAN be done tonight.
However, as said (get fed up typing that phrase) where does he go from here??:wall:
I have been straight and honest with each and everyone on this forum, Im doing ALL i can from where I am.:)
I DON'T have a credit card, I cannot afford to pay a taxi for him to come to me, he has no money to get a bus to me, (if there is one) so what else do you suggest I do??
Cos believe me I open to suggestions!!:T
Yeah, your right, street life sucks, but it build resourcefullness.:T
So where is he now?
for the second time.0 -
Then how do you help him tonight?
Well I got the information about him at about 6pm .. I have been on here trying to get some advice since then that might be helpful for him .. I can't contact him because either his battery is dead on his phone, or he's took my advice and been arrested!
Either way im still here trying to sort things out, because tomorrow he will still be in the same situation.0 -

Your friend is an adult and lives in a free country. That allows him to make any number of decisions which may, or may not, effect his future. Some of those decisions will be wise. others less so. But wise or not, he is free to make them. Unfortunately, as an adult, he must also face the consequences those decisions bring.
He decided, as an adult, to not secure suitable accommodation with an element of protection from eviction and the ability to claim his rent from a different pot (LHA). As such, he chose to put all his eggs in one basket. Sadly, that basket has broken and so have his eggs.
I'm not sure what tomorrow will bring. He should be able to apply for "severe hardship", which is, essentially, a much reduced form of JSA for those who are sanctioned. His accommodation, however, is another matter. If he is under 25, it is unlikely that even the B+Bs will touch him due to the reduced rate of LHA he will get. Possibly a direct access hostel, but you say therer isn't one near him. So he will have to use pretty much all of his severe hardship to make up his accommodation shortfall.
Life's tough, so you have to do all you can to protect yourself from it.0 -

Thats why Im here!!:T0 -
Could use his severe hardship payment to go back home and move in with his friend???????Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0

There's enough hot air from the OP to at least keep his friend warm!!0

There is a website called www.couchsurfers.com, its technically for travellers, but i would imagine in this instance it could come of some use. Check the website out, and try and register your friend on there. I have read the T & C's and there is nothing specific about it being used for travelling people, although they are the ones who use it the most. Hopefully there will be some couches in whatever area you/he are in..
p.s, ive been in the position where i was almost made homeless (when I was 8 months pregnant no less) and know how awful it feels, so i can't imagone what your friend must be going through who is actually facing this problem. What area is he in? Try looking for some charities he can go to in your area - like people said, Shelter is a good one like people have said, also St Mungos, Crisis, Centrepoint etc...6 debts down - 1 to go: just over £1000 though, soon soon....
Staying happy and positive through 2011 (hopefully!) :j0 -

Well thanks willie, but you really should read all texts befor quoting your advice. HE HAS ALREADY APPLIED FOR THIS AND BEEN REFUSED.
Willie .. I didn't ever mention there wasn't one near him. I told you the nearest one was 7 miles away BUT he would have to pay for it when he arrived. It was'nt the walking distance that was a problem it was paying for the hostel that was a problem.
Trust me Willlie, this lad knows what having a tough life is ..:T .. he just wants a life to start with.:beer:0 -
