Exactly, don't advise about entilement, there is no entitlement as he has been sanctioned but they may give him a hardship payment and the best advice is to apply with a level head.
Does anyone actually read the posts ?
He's already applied, been refused, the appeal is pending.
Maybe today he will get something, lets hope so.:j
Not Entitled??
This lad has worked since he left school, he took a job miles away from his own city (his own city employed poles to do the same job at a cheaper rate) he has never asked for a penny from anyone, now when he needs help he is not entitled to it???
Its a bloody disgrace.:mad:0 -
I'm sure you do (you weren't mentioned) but with the worst case scenario of friend sleeping rough tonight, i'm sure i wouldn't have a level head when going the JCP tomorrow asking for a hardship payment.
I see by your posts you are trying to do best by your friend to hopefully inform him tomorrow if he contacts you and it would be good advice if you told him to remain calm.
Just re-read.
Apologies.:kisses3:0 -
OP - which town/city is your friend in? It may be that some posters will know of something specific in the area that he can get some help from as well. I think that this is what has been asked when people have asked 'where is he now'......I know if he were in my local area, there would be a couple of places that could possibly help him.0

OMG!!
He has waited 3 hours for a call-back and when it came they told him there is nothing they can do except wait for a decision on his appeal.
He is livid!!! .. He asked to speak to a manager and now has to wait another three hours for the manager to call him back.:shocked:0 -
and.....what city/town is he in?0
-
Blueeyes - if you want to help your friend - the question has been asked at least four times, twice by me - what town/city is he in? If you can let us know that, then somebody local to that area might indeed know of somewhere - a local church, community group etc. that might be able to help him!
As for the last part of your last post Blueeyes - you might find that the Discussion Time is a better place for immigrant slamming etc. - you may have a valid point, but not all of us who have moved to the UK in recent years are benefit scroungers, system scammers etc. This forum is for help and entitlement, not for discussing what is right and wrong with the system0 -
How did he get a call back?
I thought his phone had no charge...?
Something is fishy about this. Let's hope the [STRIKE]suckers[/STRIKE] good-natured people on here haven't pm'd the OP to pay hos train fare or anything stupid like that!0 -

He went to the library this morning to use the internet and asked them could he charge his phone up there.
Anything else??:mad:0 -

I think I have asked four times for advice - does that make everyone else on here fishy?? - sometimes people need to leave the pc to do other stuff, or reply to different posts and miss others.
Birmingham if that helps - irrelevant now he's on his way to stay with me.:)0 -

Blueeyes - sometimes, in order for people to give the advice being sought, they need further information. Now I would bet that, if you had answered the first time asked, that he was in Birmingham (where in fact, I will be tomorrow!) somebody from the Birmingham area, or familiar with it and the services available there - would've been able to offer some good local advice which might have been of use to your friend.
Immediate problem solved now though - as he's on his way to your place - glad that the DWP was able to provide him with the trainfare to do this.
You can't slam people for not being able to give the advice you are looking for if:
a) it doesn't match what you are wanting to hear, or,
b) you don't provide the information that is requested in order to offer that advice.
LOL at 'leaving the PC for a while to do other things'......I actually work from home, and connected via vpn to my head office all day long - and have this on in the background. I'd love to leave my pc for a while to do other things, but I'm working full time, so not an optionBut thank you for the suggestion.
