Harveys Fabric Protector - Warning!

Hi Mick,
I am happy that i was able to help with such a simple posting, i believe four others have made contact. I have noticed aswell that Mcklords have changed their website and the safety data sheet has been removed. I have a copy of anyone requires a copy, i believe they have done this because of the date on the safety data sheet it has July 2010 which is bad because they have known for a while. Also the contents does not paint them in a good light. Jonathan informed me that AXA have informed him that McKlords are also responsible because they are the ones who manufacture the fabric spray for Harvey's. I am due to have a medical soon, how far are you through the process? I am sorry to hear you have had to take extra time off, i am still getting dizzy spells, couthing fits etc.
Thank you for your support i dont know why Pitkin2020 is against me, as i have not done anything but try to help people. As you are aware from Jonathan can confirm who i am. I have stated i will no longer post any solicitor details not because i have to but because i don't want readers to get the wrong idea and ruin it for everyone.
Once again thanks for your support.

Clarkys I don't have anything against you, I merely questioned the need for you to mention your solicitor (5 posts in the last 2 pages) and keep asking if anyone has got in touch even though there have been no further replies to thread!!. There are so many ambulance chasers out there now that this is a prime thread for a solicitor to tout for more business. I don't know you and you don't know me, I don't know that you are a genuine victim of this product or if you are in fact a solicitor touting for business, nor have I accused you, I merely pointed out something and you have started to throw your toys out of the pram. You have given some excellent advice but like all advice people should check their own facts first to ensure the advice is correct.I don't mean to be rude but how do we know who you are? I am able to prove that i am a consumer or you?
I was on the forum before i provided the solicitors details that have helped others. I not provided further details, due to the fact you are making out i am doing something wrong.
You can prove your a consumer how exactly?? I don't need to prove who am I and nor do you but I don't have 100% of my posts in a single thread!!
As for the real issue here, as I applied very similar products for many years I do agree that you have a very good case from reading what has been put in this thread so far. All consumer chemicals should have the safety warnings/ingredients on the can, industrial chemicals only need the safety warnings as the SDS should cover all other aspects. The product Harveys appear to have sold you should not have been for consumer purchase but should have either been applied during the manufacturing process (where most protectors are applied) or by a specialist who would usually do it before delivery to the final consumer. Even applying it after in the consumers home is not uncommon but precautions far need to be taken, far more than seem to have been indicated on the can.
As for the seriousness of this matter, I appreciate it is a very serious matter when it regards peoples health and I do hope you get a satisfactory resolution to this matter. Best of luckEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Clarkys, if you're not getting a referral fee, you're missing a trick.0

pitkin2020,
Firstly i am not chucking my toys out of my pram, nor am i an ambulance chaser. However i do agree there are many people out there that just chase after a quick buck.
Just to answer your question how can i prove that i am a consumer?
Well i can post the letters from Harveys and all commuications with AXA and my solicitor. Thats how i can also post the invoice if required. How do we know that you are not someone from AXA, McKlords or Harveys. You sound like one of them with advising what should have happened with the spray. You have said the spray should have been applied before. That is good information and i would like to thank you for that, its good to know.
This will be my last reply to you and i have nothing against you but i have only placed the solicitors details twice on this thread. I have commeted about them in the others. As per my previous thread i will not place their details on here again not because of what you said, but because there is no need.
I know i have helped people and i will let them make their own mind up about, about the facts. I will let them use which ever course of action they see as a benefit.
Thank you for the information and sorry once again for being very blunt but i am already upset about this matter.
Thanks

Hi Sarahg1969,
I was not aware there was a fee but i never did it for that reason. Just to help others with the same resources i am using. But thanks for letting me know.
Thanks

LOL I can assure I don't work for any of the above. I never said you had to prove yourself nor should you be expected to. I do expect that your information has helped others which can only be a good thing. We'll leave it there anyway.
I can only presume this product is one that is not for consumer use from the information that has been provided in this thread, I haven't seen the product for myself so I can't be 100% sure. If its found to be true than Harverys are going to be in a lot of trouble!! If harverys get sued by all you guys they will then turn on Mcklords and sue them in return no doubt as they provided the product.
Hopefully this will be concluded in a decent time frame for all those involved, it will certainly be interesting to know the final result.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Hi all,
been reading the above with interest, seems a shocking situation to be in and I hope for a speedy recovery and resolution for those affected.
I was wondering if those that have used the spray were using it on Leather or Fabric?
I ask because we've had no end of issues with Sofa we were expecting from Harveys two weeks ago, now arranged for four weeks time, but in the interim they provided a loan sofa. Its a beaten up old leather thing that's obviously ex-showroom/staff room, but I am concerned that it may have been treated with something.
I've emailed them to request info (with no response, natch!), but with an 11 month old crawling around its been taking a bit of pounding even over this last fortnight.
If you're all referring to fabric i can rest a bit easier, if its leather too i'll keep my crusade up!0 -

Hello, I have been given permission by one of the senior researchers here at MSF after having my identity verified. If I have caused offence then I'm terribly sorry and happy to remove, though I really just want to try and help.
It is with absolute best intentions that I replied here - I just want to get the message to the right people having spotted this question, and I know that I am not allowed to PM people on behalf of a company.
Really just trying to help. My contact details are on my profile if you want to discuss further.0
