Harveys Fabric Protector - Warning!

Hello there, I'm from Harveys and I just wanted to help out on a few things as this is understandably of some importance.
Firstly, we apologise for the inconvenience and concern that this matter may have caused you. We can assure you, however, that the spray has been extensively tested and conforms to all the relevant safety regulations according to our suppliers, including the messaging on the packaging. But he high standards we set for our suppliers and products means that we have decided to recall those spray cans that have already been sold.
We believe there is little to worry about, and we understand that the individuals involved have had no lasting effects but as a precaution, Harveys has withdrawn the product from sale. We don’t want there to be any risk to a customer, however small, and that is why we are collecting the spray cans back.
A reference was made to the MckLords website, however the advice on the Mcklord site relates specifically to use for large quantities of furniture and spray, not typical of home use.
Again, we apologise for this matter. Though we have been assured that all products and instructions comply with health and safety regulations and have passed strict tests, we understand that you may want to speak to someone about this. If so, please do not hesitate to DM me or write directly to:

How can you say that when a dog has died and people have been hospitalised after using this product? I think it's very worrying.0 -

from the poster it would seem they are hoping there are no lasting effects.
the advice on the Mcklords site does not specifically preclude home use, in fact it says "For use in Open System by non trained CONSUMER"I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0 -

Firstly let us respond by stating that responding to the public on a forum before properly handling our complaint seems unprofessional and insensitive.
We received a standard letter with no timescale for a resolution whereas others have received letters and calls. This is the first mention from Harvey's we have had about a recall.
In terms of lasting effects we lost a family pet and almost lost another who may continue to suffer from this due to possible scare tissue on his lungs but only time will tell.
We will be following up our complaint when we get our call back from trading standards and would hope that we receive some form of correspondence from Harvey's before our follow up is sent as we feel we shouldn't have to chase up a complaint reply.0 -

I very much doubt this would be a representative from Harveys - I know from my time working with them that they are unlikely to respond on a web forum like this and not have anything mentioned on their website.0 -

Hi All
I too bought the care kit and me and my daughter where both very ill after applying it..(all intructions followed) and i was off work sick for a while.
Harveys rang me a few weeks ago and after they asked "did you feel unwell?" was then followed by"did you take time off work?"which implies they are expecting some sort of injury claim against them, so as in other replies...DO NOT RETURN THE CANS!.
I have also received a letter this morning which repeats their pathetic offer of a refund and free "care kit" which ironically i have to go and pickup from the store in my OWN TIME!...Unbelievable!
If there is any Solicotors who are willing to take this on,please get in touch.
Mick
I thought i'd let you all know that today i received a letter from AXA insurance who are the liabilty insurers for STEINHOFF UK (Harveys),the letters says that they are investigating Policy and Legal Liability and Public Liability Injury and are asking me for all information and consent to medical records..(wish i DID see a doctor now!)...Seems that they are taking this seriously0 -
Hi,
Can anyone advise me where they are with the whole spray can problems?
I have written to Harveys and have warned them of legal action within the next 14 days due to the fact we have been very ill since the spray was placed upon our furniture.0
