Could this also be a time to bring trading standards in?

    Yeah, we were thinking that.

Just not too sure how long to give them to reply to us before getting the lawyers, trading standards and press involved (if appropriate). I think it is 30 days so will maybe follow up and chase a response around that time and if their answer isnt what we are looking for roll in the big guns

""the chemicals are listed only on the manufacturers website. There are no real warnings on the can unfortunately.""
This should be a definite No No. All containers should have How to use, Warnings and list of main constituents. Not everyone has a computer nor should have to look online to check if any problems could occur. It just gets worse for Harveys. It may be useful to PM others who have experienced the same problem and all contact together.

partner received a phone call from Harveys asking if we had used the Fabric Protector we had bought with our sofa. We had used it and had sprayed our car seats too, caller became worried and asked if we had had any reaction to it. Partner told him he had developed very itchy arms, but it was not him that had used the Fabric Protector. He was told to return any Fabric Protector to the shop asap and we would get a full refund and a £25 voucher as a goodwill gesture. When I was told this I remembered that after spraying sofa and car seats (following instruction on can) I had a few days where I felt totally drained and flu like also 2 of our dogs were off their food and vomiting.
I'm not sure what to do now, should we just accept the refund and voucher (which I don't really want)? this sounds to me like they want to buy our silence about this issue. The caller really wanted us into the shop as soon asap, but as we live in a rural location and our car (which was sprayed) is at present in the garage being repaired, we are in no hurry.

We have also received a call from Harvey's offering money back and a free care kit in exchange for the cans, which fortunately we hadn't used. Check out McLords online website, these are the people who made the spray - The fabric spray data sheet makes an interesting read and makes you realise why Harvey's are obviously worried - all the warnings that are NOT written on the tin!!

  • The website containing the data safety sheet is mcklordsonline.com

I had a letter today telling me about the spray. I had my sofas delivered start Feb and sprayed the fabric protector (whilst following instructions). I then went to the doctors complaining of breathing problems. It took about a week or so to ease off. The doctor asked if I had the can with me and as I hadn't we couldn't check. As I followed the instructions I felt that it couldn't have been that anyway. I also felt very tired and as I have a 2 year old struggled to look after him for the next week or so. He also had a cough etc but I put this down to normal bugs for time of year because he wasn't actually in the house when I sprayed but came back a few hours later. I'm very worried now incase there is long term effects from this and is it safe to keep the sofas. What is the best way forward for this?

    Thanks

    Is this the safety sheet?

What kind of details/warnings are on the can itself? Surely everyone should have been given a copy of the safety info???

that stuffs next door to lethal if they are selling this without safety warnings they are in deep doo doo. It looks as if it should only be used with a respirator.
