You've done great work for us on lots of areas,Glad. Please do not be put of from your role.It is much thought of.

I myself have been sent messages that are somewhat rude & derogatory, criticising my efforts on here very recently.I was rather put out by them but have decided to just carry on as was.

Hi Glad, thanks for posting and all the hard work you have been putting in regarding the new 'rules'. Im sorry that some people decided to publicly direct their anger at you, but although i disagree with that, i can see where they are coming from.

    From your own posting -
to take effect from APRIL 1st

For everyone asking to keep things simple

    Simple guideline

    Regs board

Daily and weekly drawn comps that have no overall promotion end date
Once only entry into a draw when registering for a site or signing up for a newsletter

    Main board

    Anything else

Now, i dont know who decided that comps had to have an 'overall end date' but considering 1) this was NEVER discussed (or if it was i missed it completely) and 2) the majority of sites have regular comps so no overall end date i cannot see the reason why this was suddenly put into action.

If i can give an example - every single Saturday there is a comp called 'The Daily Mail Wish List' which grannybiker kindly posts EVERY week for us, and then (normally cornishpasty) posts the list of what we can win. This is posted on the main board, and i believe there is also a link in the weekly thread for those who do not come on the main board. However, completely out of the blue one week, we had all happily entered this comp, when someone posted that for some unknown reason, it wasnt in the paper that week, so we were entering a competition that wasnt there. The following week it was back as normal and has carried on. This competition has an end date, but no 'overall end date' however it did stop and then restart!
I dont know who decided this 'overall end date' but i think from the hostility and upset from yesterday, we can all see we just want the rules that you set out originally - and see if they can work.

Please do not stop being the excellent BG that you are, hopefully now we have these rules, it will make your job a lot easier if we ALL try to stick to them!

    From my earlier post -

I really dont understand the problem. There was a vote, and the majority said they wanted all comps with an end date to go onto the main board.

There were more discussions, and it was decided that all comps with an end date should be on the main board. Those that can be entered daily can be linked to the daily board, those that can be entered weekly can be linked to the weekly thread.

If a comp has no end date you guess, and add guessedenddate.

All comps that need a 'tag' should be tagged ie Facebook, Blog, Twitter, Effort etc.

The Monthly board is being replaced as the majority of monthly competitions have an end date and so can be posted on the main board, as voted for by the majority.

Any comps that have can be entered only once, such as a newsletter sign up or enter once and you are in futher draws will be popped into the Monthly threads replacement, ONCEONLY or ONGOING.

If i have got anything wrong, please let me know :)

Glad I really appreciate how active you have been on the board, I hope you are not going to leave us now. Sometimes people write things and forget how hurtful they can read, when you feel their words are aimed at you.

I'm going to jump back into the fire again... Cc, its the monthly stickys thread that is no longer needed, and yes the monthly regs are moving over to here, but now they need reposting every single month, as they are recurring entry, rather than end date. I much preferred the idea of moving them over as E:99/99.

The Ongoing comps have been the main discussion point on this thread, and how to define them. I think it was One Eye, that came up with the overall End Date idea - I think what has been missed with some of the comps that were accidentally moved, was that although if you search it looks like they were running a weekly comps. In fact they had offered no definite commitment to run the comp every week. If you just went by the fact that they held a freq comp often at weeklish intervals, then loads of comps could move - yet this comps could be pulled without notice... That was not what I had understood.

So a site has to commit and say that they will be holding a competition draw, every day/week to be ongoing , or until 31/10 (guessedenddate) to be an End Date regular on main board.

However, while I prefer to see dailys with different prizes in one thread - comping by End date means I rarely see the first page, so miss these if posted very day. I can understand and often feel that a weekly comp which changes their prize, could work either as a single updated thread or be reposted every week.

I have to finish that while Diva may have posted and calmed things down, if I was a fellow bg, I would have been disappointed not to have been consulted/advised, and so have had the chance to have resolved the issue first.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

I've used the end dates for those monthlies as their sites state, not everything every month finishes on the 30/04 many have diff closing dates, also many of those had , had a prize change.

Me and Cat have worked through the list methodically so it should be straight forward next month.

If the end date should have been diff, surely someone could have said as I was posting them. I posted them as advised by a Bg.

Spent hours helping with those and am really peed off that people are quick enough to moan, but not so quick to help.

Is there anything people aren't going moan at? It makes for a very depressing place, when u can't do right for wrong.

Huge thanks for that Toniq, it is appreciated. I'm didn't mean to moan at you, I was just referring back to an alternative suggestion that had come up during this thread as an example. Yes, it was decided to repost monthlies with their monthly date, every month instead, which is exactly what you and Comping Cat have done, you are both stars.

I sorry, that I couldn't help, but am rubbish at posting comps atm, due to my one finger typing and freq distractions. Am not even managing to enter many comps at all atm.

Without stiring everything up again but -

I dont understand all of this 'overall end date' i had thought the discussion was about competitions that didnt have any end date at all. Today i saw the Honeybun competition in the weekly section (its a Tuesday only, every week at the moment comp) and have no idea why it is there - it has an end date which is today!

If i am wrong, and people disagree with me please say, but my understanding is if it has an end date, no matter how often or not the competition is run, it should be on the main board? (and if i am right, will it be ok for me to ask for all these comps that have now been moved to be moved back?)

I guess this is where the confusion is happening :o

while the TV News one just said this week, so there was no idea if it would happen for sure next week - different prizes, weekly end date... The HoneyBuns one says Every week, but doesn't say that it will ever end... :o so I'd say tech the regs, (sorry)

But I love thats its linked to dailys, and in the one thread, so I can enter it whether its on main or regs.

Maybe the BGs, just need to talk to each other, and see if they want regs to continue at all. Sometimes I agree with Diva and Dalkirst that it would be better to go back to how it used to be, sometimes I agree with Glad, that a compromise that would help everyone could be worked out
