Hi everyone. I rarely come here or anywhere else other than the Main Board and if I am lucky enough, I won! I won! I won! to pass on my thanks but I, like many others, am getting a bit hassled by comps dissappearing, reappearing and disappering again from the Main Board.

When I started in the distant past of 2007, the days of Kipper and the 1st 'million thanks', everything seemed quite logical. Other than there being a lot more facebook and twitter comps these days I don't see what has changed that requires comps to be redesignated from how it was in 2007?

Change for change sake maybe? The average comper probably has an hour or two at most per day, many without form fillers yet and just needs everything as simple as possible.

Having said my bit, I still love comping, wherever the comps are posted and grateful thanks go as always to all who post.

hiya, this is what i'm trying to say, you say you only visit mains, same as majority of peeps on here,
if the weekly comps get posted straight into weekly without any links to main, then, you're going to have to go into weeklys, subscribe to the post/thread to get updated new comp info for
them comps each week, if they're not posted on main board,
but, if they're posted on main board first, you get the chance to see them, subscribe to them, before they're sent to weeklies,
    if you want to,
    hope that makes sense

    I agree 100%

As it was, if I missed a few comps on the regs board, I missed them. As it is now, I've entered so many comps twice. Everything is taking so much longer. I find it so confusing :o

so how about we go with andreas last suggestion then? lets do away with regs totally, lets do away with ongoing threads totally and have everything as a brand new comp every single time. including all dailies, all weeklies, all puzzler comps and all tab comps, as well as both tthe inn and discussionms. :D

that way there are no stickies, there are no impossible to follow and keep up with threads, there is no questioning of what should be where, its simples....everything goes as a new post. then there wont be any more moaning, there wont be any more questions and there wont be anymore complaints. very simples :D

the same could be said for puzzler and tab. why are they not posted first on main and then a link sent? that way everyone who doesnt want to follow the threads can get the chance to first see them and enter them before theyre sent to the threads? and people who want to find them via the threads can find them?

but they are posted on main first, the 1st page link to follow through with all the mag issues is posted on main, then each comp is added to the thread & posted on main,

nobody is complaining FAICS about ongoing threads, we're only saying the weekly's make more sense to post on main first, then linked into weekly regs, if peeps wish to enter from weekly regs, then the links there for them, if peeps only use main, the comp is there for them with a link to the weeklys if they wish to go to weeklys

First of all, I’m not getting drawn into an argument. This is just getting silly now.

I thought we’d all agreed to compromise on this given we couldn’t just agree on a definition of ongoing, or even create a poll to agree a definition of ongoing.

I've no idea how many comps are involved but seeing how many comps Toni has just posted would guess it's less moving to regs than have been moved to main?

This new rule isn’t what I wanted either. I would rather have had a definition of what constitutes a regular to work from that wouldn’t cause all this friction and so we could keep all 3 of the d/w/m stickies in some respect because they all really help me, especially monthlies at month ending. I would have accepted anything as that definition, even if it was only "nothing at all changes but the day/week/month", but would have preferred things like "same site, same prize, new answer may be needed" too. But we just went round in circles so were given these rules and were told to compromise.

The new rules might be a bit extreme for some comps (e.g. nothing changes monthlies and weeklies with no promotion end date) but they are a compromise and a trial. So maybe instead of arguing we should try them out and see how the compromise works for us first?

Ok moving this over here so not to keep hijacking the dailybag thread. As Munchkim said - Most websites post new comps on the same day each week or the same day of the month. They are different comps - different prizes, different end dates. If we start putting all of these in an ongoign thread in regs it would mean that most comps would end up on there and only those that are a competition run by a website as a true one off would be on the main board - this whole place will just become one big mess! No one knows where anything should be anymore and there seems to be very little logic to what's going on.

And why are the magazine threads being allowed to stay as they are? I prefer them the way they are (and would HATE to see them change!) but technically going with all these new rules that seem to be happening (i've given up on trying to keep up with what's going on) surely it's not really right for them to stay that way when things like this one are being moved over?

beffffff - i think the rules of it it has an end date it should be posted on main was being accepted and used but suddenly it seems that even those with an end date are now being posted in an ongoing thread in regs (which goes against those rules), mag ones are still being posted in 1 thread on main etc.. so it just doesn't seem to work as it's one way for some comps and another for others - there is still a lack of consistency!

    Anyway, happy days ;)
