New Comps Board Guidelines Discussion

Hi GB. Same as you I am also not having a go here so please don't take this wrong
The only one of your comps I know and can comment on is Bosch. I think you posted on that that it now has an end date? So if that's right and the poll gets a yes vote that would live on main as one thread as E: whenever you said (MONTHLY) Win with Bosch (sorry I'm offline as I type so can't check exact details)
I guess the others may be what the poll is designed to resolve? I doubt you'll agree with the decision for some comps and doubt I'll agree with it for others. But at least we'l have clarity
And I'm as fed up as you - the same way you're fed up being told off for posting on main I'm fed up with being told off for posting on regsI know I post a lot less than you but you're right it does take a long time to post comps when you could be entering them and people should be happy we all post for their benefit instead of moaning about where we've posted. Maybe we should all have been having a go at the people having a go rather than at each other?

I only hope that the changes make work easier on those who take care of the boards, compers can establish their own methods of entering and I hope by sticking to the guidelines people will find posting a regular competition less confusing.
Kudos to all board posters and mods. I will make you all a well deserved cuppa.Wishing you all good luck!

I totally agree GB
that's how it all started with people questioning why comp A was posted in one way and comp B differently even though they appeared to be the same type of entry
and it continued after the original polls as people were still confused as to what is a regular comp and how to decide wether it is ongoing or not
if there is a written guideline to point compers to then that should helpI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. the inconsistancy about where things are posted is a large part of the problems we have had. hopefully the poll (ill go look in a bit) will address that and mean we all know what should go where :j
this is just my take on things.....
i dont enter the celeb angels ones all that often, so may be wrong but are they not more like sci fi comps, with regularly run competitions yes, but with unpredictable end dates for each one? the two in dailies atm have different end dates, they dont seem to be specific to a set day each week/month when new comps are released to replace the old one but are released as and when, usually a day before the published end date (unless the end date used is incorrect, i seem to be forever replacing those links instead of deleting them as end date hits and then getting new ones), but sometimes its a few days before new ones go up?
post as you interpret the rules is a good idea, except thats whats been happening and it has caused issues and problems and such like on both sides of the debate. one person says do it this way, the other says do it that way so who is right? who should be listened to? who's interpretation should a new poster take on board as the way things are meant to be done? what if a comp is then moved because the board guides interpret the rules a different way to the person who originally posted? who is right then? its confusing
nb: also not having a go, or a dig at anyone
i think blog was one of the tags suggested in previous posts on here that mamzie so kindly tried to draw together into one post for us. if im posting a blog comp i try to include in the oip if its merely a comment on the blog or if following is a requirement
the title/op tags rule is one that i think having it in writing instead of as an unwritten rule some follow will be for the benefit of everyone, i hope anyway0 -
I offer my views a little too rarely maybe but I did prefer it before.I have a simplistic style of comping & cannot generally do not enter the regulars. My own fault as I spend time finding comps to post on the main board.
All this mingling of the the two seems too confusing for me.I'll stick to my haphazard way & good luck to all.We all comp invarying ways but we must not spoil the board for the generally silent majority.
Off hunting now :-)0 -
So we have another poll.
"Could you live with these guidelines if they were implemented?"
Answer = YES.
I could also live with every other suggestion that has been made (except for daily comps being posted every day).
Are we going to have a second poll with a different set of guidelines (eg. Monthly comps should all be posted as an individual comp for that month only) with the same question? Could you live with these guidelines if they were implemented? Answer = YES as well.
Voting YES does NOT mean I am in favour of them and want them implemented. You have not asked me that. Please do not in the future say "This is what you wanted - you voted for it" as this would be a lie.0 -
ok so the question could have been worded differently but I hope after reading the OP of the poll people will realise what they are voting for
there is no way you'll ever come up with a guideline that everyone will be in favour of so what the poll is asking is 'for the sake of peace and getting back to comping could you live with this as a guideline?'
would it help if I added to the thread 'if the majority vote is yes then these guidelines will be implemented and used to decide wether a promotion is posted on the main board or the regular board'I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. It would help if the poll question said "Do you want this guideline implemented" and then I could honestly vote NO and if the result was YES then I could accept it. So far only 26 people have voted, so restarting the vote might be OK.
PS. What does a NO result mean.0 -
ok I can see your point
but a lot of people would vote NO as they wouldn't really want it, again there is no way everyone can get what they want, hence the question being 'could you live with it?'I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. So we have another poll.
Are we going to have a second poll with a different set of guidelines (
each additional rule required to clarify how to post each daily and each weekly and each monthly and then how to post each type of the 3 regulars ie daily prize draw has one rule, daily entry for extra entries to one overall draw has another rule etc etc. makes it more complicated to post? the need to see which rule do i need to folow for this particular regular comp which may be different for another similar comp, and may be different again for another:o
as well as extending the time taken to have a set of guidelines to follow, if each poll needs to run for a week and we need a minimum of 6 polls thats another 6 weeks before we can say we know what we are doing and remove the inconsistancy
id love it to just be simples, post all reg comps on regs and add to the stickies, post all one time entry only comps on main  which is how i understood the old unwritten rules to be but the last poll showed people want promos with an overall end date on main so can i live with that yes?0
