Glad, could you add to the OP, that if people vote No as they have a different suggestion/definition, could they please post it on here.

Only thing I wish was on there - is an option to vote to return all Regs to regs forum/roll back time to 6 mths ago to vote on, just so we could have seen how the mixing of comps has been working out, iyswim.

But then you may end up with no overall majority, as I think many people who would like things back the way they were, may be quite adaptable
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

POLL WARNING – The poll is HERE

The question really means “Do you want this guideline implemented?” – please vote accordingly.

If you think posting a monthly comp as an individual comp (for the current month only) is the best idea – VOTE NO

If you don’t want existing comps that are posted individually each month moving to regulars – VOTE NO

If you think regulars sub-forum should contain only those comps that have no new Question/Answer/Link/Prize each time – VOTE NO

I really didnt want to get involved with this, i havnt read all the thread, i have no idea what is being suggested and to be honest, i dont even understand what the poll is about.

I also think im not the only one, the majority of people on the comps board either do not read the discussions or polls, and from what i have seen now and previously, they dont vote either. For one of the ITV comps i post, i can get 800/900 thanks, and i know that now we have the enter button, there must be lots of compers who enter and dont thank as well.

Saying all this, and like i said, i dont understand what the discussion is can i say that i had always understood the rules to be that all competitions where to be posted on the main board (without exception) and until the fuss a few months ago, this is what i had assumed went on. I also thought that the regular competition section was where competitions that were found on the main board, that turned out to be multiple entry (whether it was daily, weekly or monthly) would then be posted there, the link being to the original thread on the main board, and these threads were kept up straight by kind compers who had the time to help with this. If any of these regular comps needed a new answer, then this was added to the main board, as the link in the regular section would take you there anyway.

I might be wrong, but that is what i thought went on, and cant see why this cant continue, or why this doesnt work now.

Dammit, well i completely mis-read that poll. Thanks for making it clearer! I wanna change to no! :(
  • I think that we need to take this all less seriously. People post comps on their own time and as a favour to us. If there is confusion and we end up entering comps twice by accident or missing them it’s not the end of the world!

I would be happy with whatever rules are agreed upon and will try to stick to them. My entry method is thus: I just look at the boards and enter any comps that take my fancy. Simples!

this gets more & more complicated :(
way i thought it was is
monthly comps that were/are in the regs thread will be posted on main board each month with updated new question/answer
with a link to the reg sticky
    same for the weeklies
    same for the dailies

puzzler/tab thread being kept as they are

    :(

comping cat that is how the stickies should work, should have links to all the regular comps, however when you say posts should all go on main without exception do you mean as a new post each time for each new answer etc? in which case should the sticky maintainers be updating all the links to each regular thread with a new thread each time?

do you mind if i ask what you thought all the threads on the regs board where? or why we didnt just have the 3 stickies on mian instead of in a subforum? and how people avoided duping if they entered a regular comp from either the reg forum or the reg stickies and then also came across it on main, sometimes possibly weeks later?

trying to understand how people thought these things worked before :)

the poll is also about dailies and weeklies, like i said above, those that are one overall promo with one draw and end date AND trhose that are one entry required every day or week or month with new answers or whatever.

if we want all monthlies on main, as new posts each month we dont need the monthly sticky thread....so all the newsletter sign ups need posted every single month without fail since they ahve a new end date every single month :) same with all weeklies and all dailies :)....why should one type of regular comp be treated differently than another when that just makes things way more complicated? making things more complicated and requiring more guidelines? trying to understand why your so annoyed with the poll here? when its exactly what was being discussed in here, which like i said above mamzie tried hard to pull everything together for us :)

if you vote no then thats fair enough, we will i assume continue the discussion, going round in circles for another month until something else appears to be workable and repeat as many times as necessary. mean time we will continue not knowing whats going on with more and more people getting frustrated and annoyed at the ever ongoing discussions :(

using monthlies as an example, thats asking ppd to update the op with each new link as its posted, because if its not done as its posted then someone using the stickies will miss that comp that month if say they do them on the first but the new link isnt added in until the 10th. also means they may dupe as its both in the sticky as an ongoing comp but also on main as a new post which they may not remember they have entered that month via the link in monthlies, which may or may not have been the actual current link. iyswim? its all right for one or two threads, but not for multiple threads.

When i started comping all those years back, the comps in the regular thread linked to the main board - ive noticed recently that people are posting on the main board but linking to the regular board - this never happened before and has only started this last month or so.
Competitions that needed a new answer were updated, so bumped back to the first page, no need for a new thread or for those who maintain the regular threads to do anything new.

I thought the regular threads where for those who wanted/had time to enter competitions regularly, without having to keep a list themselves and having to find them each day/week/month on the main board. I myself use the daily thread, if it wasnt there i would have to keep a list and find them myself on the main board (or set up a folder in my favourites, which is what i believe some people do on here already) I use the daily board because i have time to, i dont have time to do the weekly or monthly ones, but that is my choice and wouldnt want the boards taken away just because i dont use them.
I believe some people use the regular boards rather than the main boards and some people enter by end date only. Im sure whatever way we enter we all must realise that there is a chance we are missing out on some competitions, but you choose the way you can work with best,

I like the idea of having fb blog etc in the title, I usually ignore the ones that are a blog comp, as not sure what type of comp they are

if someone has there own blog and runs a comp are the prizes usually worth going for and what do you usually have to do to win? I thought it means adding an entry to the blog like writing a report for a travel comp :o
