actually is the tab/puzzler/postals threads one thing we CAN all agree on? that no matter what they should stay as ongoing threads and continue to be updated regularly as they now are? (though i dont think ill ever understand why people can follow those fast moving threads but cant follow one that has 1 post a week, or one post a month :rotfl:)0

that could be part my fault I guess, for shouting STOP at Glad and PCL, and pming MSE Andrea when she posted her last and final Updated Guidelines
I honestly didn't think anyone would want every reg comp and all the magazine and postal comps posted as separate comps for every comp... And to repost a daily as a new thread every 24 hours, etc, just seems like madness to me.
So I pm'd her urgently, and started to try and write down all the unwritten rules I had been following since Kippers days, plus many of the suggestions and compromises that I had seen on the Discussions over the last 6 mths as I had follow that thread. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

i may well be missing an obvious list somewhere though, i wouldnt put it past me to have seen one at some point and not remembered to look again :rotfl:
hiya, this was discussed loads of times ages ago & just recently, hjb (when she was posting the Real People) tried an experiment with posting all the Real People on one ongoing thread but loads didn't want it/like it/ didn't want them posting in regs,
i suggested a sticky/thread ongoing in regs ages ago with all the mags weekly/monthly/ posters to post/update when this discussion came up again
but remember a few peeps didn't like the idea, so think it was discarded as an idea
i had lots of pm's regarding it & seems peeps prefer the mags postings on main board how they've always been done, specially the puzzlers,
tbh i find it easier to add to my contacts who posts which weekly mags
tttJay Take a Break issue, Chat Puzzles issue
melvis Real People Magazine Issue
korkythekat That's Life Issue, Full House Issue, Pick me Up Issue
i'm subscribed to the puzzler comps so get an instant email as soon as a new comp is posted, please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Korky, I did add a special point (11) explaining about the mags being posted differently in the guidelines, and pointed out about postals in point 1, after you and a few others explained the to me.
Do you think it would be worthwhile mentioning the poll and this thread in those threads please? I don't use them much, so don't know if that would help or not.
hiya mamzie, yes, i saw/agreed on it :A thank you
it's just that some keep/kept saying ALL monthly/weekly etc should be posted separate regardless of them being any different from other comps,
tbh i don't think it would be a good idea to mention the poll in the threads as it would disrupt the flow of the mag postings
BG's have always asked not to bump with chat/discussion on them threads, even though we do get a few sometimes, perhaps best to keep to the discussion threads ?

i'm subscribed to the puzzler comps so get an instant email as soon as a new comp is posted,
but my question was is there a list somewhere of who buys what mag/paper to post the normal weekly comps as new threads on main each week? might be worth making one? i know in the past when someone else has jumped in and posted instead there has been friction because a reg poster buys that mag (paper) to post
i remember the discussions before as well, though one sticky wouldnt work unless each mag had an ongoing thread, unless the maintainer of that sticky was to be expected to change the links each week and/or month as appropriate  likewise i remember hjb trying it as an ongoing thread, iirc she didnt even get to post a second week in that one ongoing thread because she got shot down for daring to consider trialling it to see how it worked
would be easier to do than for the other weekly/monthly comps since they all come out on a set day and that would be the only day links need replacing and it would make them easier to find than searching all comps on main each week. but if we were going to do that for mag comps then surely it would also be wanted for other comps, so maybe someone would want all itv comps linked in a sticky and the links replacing each day/week, similar to some people wanting all facebook comps linked in one sticky (or direct linked instead):o
my point re the puzzler, tab and postal threads was to highlight that if we go strictly with all weekly and monthly comps being on main we either include them OR make them an exception. i love those threads and would hate to see them split, but i know some people hate them and avoid them
my point re dailies was that there are currently some daily comps posted as new threads each day, so if they are to be an exception then we need an agreement that all dailies will be posted as ongoing threads, otherwise we still have two different methods of posting the same type of comp.0 -

yep, and every time something has been tried to implement change it comes back to going round in circles again! (andreas polls, attempts at compromise with linking threads, attempts to get an agreement by discussions, andreas last set of guidelines, this poll.....recurring theme!)
Maybe it's time to leave it then. The boards are a list of comps which you can either enter or not enter - it doesn't have to be complicated!Won: Subscription to four four two magazine! the postals/text thread is there for the magazine/paper text/postal comps, weekly news/womans weekly, bella, best, love it text comps, etc..

Email comps from magazines etc go onto the main board
As requested and to avoid posts getting duplicated, i have compiled a full list of who posts what with the help of others of course:D if you see mags not listed then pm me and i will add them.

the online paper/magazine comps go on main board,
not sure if it would work for having all the weekly mags in one thread, it's up to the posters of the magazines & the feedback i've had through pm's is that they're happy how they're posted now,
perhaps have a poll for the magazine regular posters only to see if they want it changed ?
as said the main board email/web comps are a free for all as we all get the newsletters/ so it's the first to post , but with mag comps we pay for them to share on here so maybe it's up to the mag posters to decide how to post the comps ?please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Isn't the idea of these changes to make it easier on the mods, not to create more work?
Looks to me like more threads will be moved to regs and more lists are going to be created, taking already 'regular appearing competitions' from the main board. (IE mentioned above the sun buzz & ITV.)
There are often threads in the regular section which have expired and are not removed from the sticky, and some are repeated links to the same comp. (As quoted somewhere above) So even that system can be confusing and can result in double entries.
I was hoping this would make things easier for the admin and posters, like I have said before compers can work with whatever - but this looks to me like a reversal of what was implimented with the last poll.
Last poll resulted in more threads onto the main board from regs.
This poll looks to put more back onto the regs from the main board, (Inlcuding ones that were not previously there and are known to the main board.)
Someone corect me if I am wrong? This entire thing is being made way over complicated.
The board is running quite well at is it currently. If there are people complaining, you will find that in all areas of life, you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time!Wishing you all good luck!

Please read point 1 of the proposed guidelines on Post 3 of this thread, in conjuction with the poll. that explains where all the single entry and Reg d/w/m entry End Date comps like Sun, Buzz, Waitrose, etc will be going....
I think that One Eye has slightly confused things a little. We are ONLY voting on how to define what is an ONGOING comp... Where End Date comps go has already been decided, hth, xxx
If you vote NO, then we may end up up with what PCL has mentioned in her post by default. My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly

Sorry but i just find this too complicated and i hated the change from the poll last time, all regs should be on the regs board and this has made a lot of work for me on the monthly sticky, before majority of reg monthly comps were added as single posts in the reg thread and i then used to go through the regs and then add all the monthlies onto sticky, now they are all over the place! as barely anyone send me links to monthlies on main board which means those that work through the sticky are missing out
also i just dont have the time to go through the monthly sticky all the time to check to see if there might be expired comps, its only when someone moans there is a closed comp that i know of it as again barely anyone lets me know, only a few actually let me know
i have tried to read up on what people want changing and im still unsure, sorry but if this means more work for the monthly sticky then i cant do it, i will have to hand over to someone else who has more time on their hands, i already have loads to do with the postal thread and for the past month or so i am even struggling to find the time to comp at all
I am not voting on the poll as im just getting fed up with all this discussion that keeps going on and on and on all the time, there was nothing wrong with things they way it was before, only cause a few moaned that they thought comps were being hidden in regs? easy solution - click on regs! simples0
