    Hi charlotte030906, welcome to MSE!

I think that this depends upon what payment agreement she signed up to SAS with. If it was the credit agreement, then she should probably be contacting the Official Receiver to see where she stands.

Otherwise, I always suggest that a visit to the Citizens Advice Bureau never hurts as they can offer you good advice. Also a call to Trading Standards would not go amiss.

    Hope that helps!

Apologies for not coming back sooner, but here I am with an update on my mum's dealings with this company (post #632 https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/2085601 ).

OK to recap, on 8th Feb a "CISS" salesman visited my mum and she ended up signing for a £4000 contract. System was installed on Thursday 10th Feb in order to void the cooling off period. Payment was made by building society cheque on the Thursday...

So thanks to the advice here, my Mum and Sister went to the building society first thing on the Monday to cancel the cheque as it was within the 3 working days it takes to clear. There were no problems in canceling the cheque, so CISS/SAS/whatever-they-call-themselves-next didn't get their grubby mitts on a pound!

We cancelled the contract in writing via email and recorded delivery letter as well as my Mum and Sister telephoning them. A few days later the installer came round to un-install the system. He mentioned to Mum that people changing their minds on these systems "happens quite a lot"... That was the last we heard from this company.

It seems that my Mum has been somewhat "lucky" in this instance, though it has been a learning opportunity for her. Hopefully she will speak to us before letting a salesman in next time.

SAS Fire And Security and Crime Research UK shut down for fleecing the elderly

Two horribly successful Cheshire-based companies which made millions flogging monitored burglar and fire alarms were today wound-up in the Manchester District Registry following action by Company Investigations of The Insolvency Service.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

I told you SAS were dodgy

For those of you who prefer a proper report, rather than the tabloid one, try here:-

This is the News Distribution Service for the Government and private Sector.

Now we just need action on the three replacement companies....

Spammy I have asked you many times and I am getting fed up, please stop refering to me in your posts. I am a Forum member and I have already reported you to the moderator in the past for bringing my name up. How can I join in other posts on the forum when you keep refering to me as a plant?
I said all I had to say about my experience and thats's it so please go on your way with your research and leave me to use the forums in peace.

PS: Moderators can we note this post please?

An interesting article appeared in the Mirror today, seems SAS alarms have been given the boot. http://blogs.mirror.co.uk/investigations/2011/03/sas-fire-and-security-and-crim.html

Well what a surprise, I can already see some posters choking on their humble pie.

Keep up the Good work Spammy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
