Less than a year ago my parents paid £5000 for a monitored alarm (for 10 years!). Received a letter as above saying they were closing and passing over to UK Monitoring & Response Solutions who have since written and asked for £99 'connection fee'. Trying to find out if there's any link between the companies.
A friend of mine also got one of "those" alarms 2 years ago. She has now received a letter asking for £99 for connection fee. Why should she suffer and have to pay more money for an already overpriced alarm? Its disgraceful!
I googled UK Monitoring & Response and could only come up with the following.

Anyone else got any more info?0 -
we purchased a 15 years alarm system from them in Feb 2010. Paid up front with credit card. Nothing but bother, system didn't work, they wouldn't call back, didn't turn up when they said they would. Am trying very hard to claim back via my credit card company. The 15 year guarentee we were promised at the start is.............a 5 year guarentee. Don't we feel like mumpets.:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0

Hmmm! 30th November last year? Just after the terminal court case against SAS? I just wonder who those two directors could be.....
PS
Anyone else wondering where those [STRIKE]plants[/STRIKE] oops I mean supporters of SAS have gone? People such as these:-- the sales master, "All the bad words being said on here about SAS Fire and security is totally crock"
- jimbo13, "is this thread going to go on for decades? It isn't going to change anything and the actual company doesn't care. I don't see that they have bothered to exercise their right to respond anywhere here."
- HomeResearchGroupEmployee, "Spoke to someone from there just before Christmas and they never mentioned anything about three new companies being made !" ....... "By the way, to all that have asked..Now SAS are not using G4S they have their own response team. In the unlikely event they do go bust then they have all the relevant insurances in place for the monitoring to be taken over by another company, just as I'm sure ADT and any other monitoring company would."
- C Crawford, "I feel this thread could have been much better, if Spammy and others would have been less scathing in their comments then we might have had more people on speaking about their alarms, Both good and bad. But thanks to the cut and paste army all we ever had was one person saying they were happy with their alarm, (That Being me) followed by lots of cut and pasted newspaper stories. This in turn prompted employees of the company, ex employees of the company and rival companies to come on and post absolute drivel."
- soupdragon1, "I believe this Forum is devaluing the credibility of the whole Web site; I have never come across such a collection of bigoted innuendo and alarmist claptrap!".... & "I think it is absolutely disgraceful that an anonymous poster openly starts a rumour that a company is going out of Business and suggests that customers would be left high and dry without absolute proof, and for other so called respected consumer rights poster to condone this remark as if it was fact !!"
- shortcaked, "In all honesty the product seems as good or better than the alternatives."
I am a cow so cannot speak Bullshine but I do recognise its smell when I come upon it.0 -
I am so sorry to hear of the people who have been left high and dry by this company. I am very dubious about this new company and I think if I sign up with them I will lose all chance of a refund as the £99 will be a new contract and not covered by credit card insurance. If I get a refund from my credit card company won't I still have my alarm - and what is to stop me signing up (theoretically) with UK monitoring for £99 for 10 years (theoretically as Iexpct the company will go bust or demand more money in the very near future). Would appreciate any advice.0

SAS (who went bust) or CISSL, the replacement company set up by the directors of SAS and which has just ....

Hi
What do you mean it's a 5 year guarantee?
When we purchased the system we paid over £6,000 for 15 years. We asked if there would be a guarantee on the product, etc and was told yes there would be because we didn't want to be having to foot the bill in say 10 years if the box needed replacing etc. We were told that everything, box, monitoring, sensors etc would be covered (except batteries). When the guarentee came through 4 months and many phone calls after it had been installed we discovered it was only a 5 year guarantee.:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:0 -
Our system was installed in August 2010, and was paid for by credit card. When we received the letter on Friday I called Trading Standards, we have to contact our credit card supplier quoting the Consumer Credit Act 1974, section 75, as they are jointly and severally liable for the breach of contract by SAS.
Stephen Rievaulx Wilson, Chief Operating Officer UK Monitoring & Response Services, £99.00 to take over only the monitoring element of the SAS contract, was the Commercial & Media Director of SAS.
Trading standards say that the directors, not sure if it is all of them have bought the business from the official receiver for a pittance and now they think we will pay more money, can't even get an answer on the phone numbers they have on the letters. Perhaps they are all still up in Glasgow.0 -
WHAT is going on?
Came across this
http://www.companiesintheuk.co.uk/ltd/solar-energy-savings
Are they ALL connected?? The names listed are malnly connected with UK Monitor & Response or SAS Fire & Security. Lots of appointments and terminations Jan 2011, e. g. David Diaz , his brother Ludovic Black
Can anyone shine a light - is it just my suspicious mind ?0
