Flight Overweight Situation - Help!!

I am supporting the OP because I twice had baggage delayed many years ago and I know how distressing it can be. Unless it's happened to you, you may not understand the impact this has on someone.
This is why the EU should impose statutory compensation for delayed baggage in the same way as they already do for denied boarding.
Can I ask, when your luggage was delayed were you on your way to or from your holiday?
I do have sympathy for the OP but feel it puts a different complexion on things when you are on your way home. It is easier to sort things out to wear etc when you are at home and not in a hotel in a foreign land IMHO.0 -
Millions of bags getting moved around; some are bound to get lost, but luckily it's never happened to me. I don't put anything in the hold that I can't live without, and I certainly wouldn't let a lost bag ruin any trip.
I'd expect money back for anything I bought to replace a missing bag. but nothing more than that. For our main holiday in 2010 we flew on BA in business class for the same price on a similar distance flight.
Out of interest, where was that to ?Legal team on standby0 -
Well it has happened to me so I am perfectly aware of the impact - see my earlier post where I mentioned that very thing.Unless it's happened to you, you may not understand the impact this has on someone.

Did you have to book a hotel too to get the best rate? I've seen some excellent flight + hotel offers with BA Club Europe flights - £299pp to Venice was on there last week. Lounge access and better seating make it a no-brainer.Legal team on standby0

No, we stayed at a villa in Spain, booked totally separately. They were just standard discounted non-flexible Club Europe seats.Did you have to book a hotel too to get the best rate? Before making such unhelpful comments, perhaps you should consider the time that the OP has had to take to trace the delayed baggage, the anxiety, stress, and inconvenience as well as time to buy replacement items. Have you ever experienced delayed baggage, especially delayed as long as the OP's baggage?
It sometimes astonishes me that when people come to these supposedly consumer-friendly forums for helpful advice having behaved totally reasonably, some people's responses are extremely anti-consumer and fail to grasp the severity of the issue in hand.
Yes I have. Baggage wasn't put onto a flight in Boston whilst flying back from the West Coast.
American Airlines said it would be with us in 2 to 3 days. It took three phone calls to helpful friendly agents who all answered quickly and we eventually got it back 11 days later.
It didn't occur to even ask for compensation as it was not an issue. Maybe if the OP gets stressed phoning people to sort things out they are not really suited to international travel?
If the stress is dreamt up to try to get some unwarranted recompense then don't expect sympathy.0 -
