I keep seeing that everyone is makins sock muffins and was just wondering how that worked? Do I roll the socks up, tie an elastic round and put them in a muffin case? They look really good in everyone's photos! Also if anyone is interested I picked up a X Factor DVD game from Play.com today for £2.99 thought it might be useful for someone, if not for a hamper then for a little stocking filler! Here's the link; http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/3440818/The-X-Factor/Product.html

hope that helps (and I only know because I read it on here earlier :D))

Edited: That's maybe not the right thread. Sorry ... but I'm sure someone will know all about socks! :)

I made my first sock muffins today- i ordered some muffin cases off ebay (which were a bit smaller than i imagined lol)- these can fit one sock in each, i have just folded the fleecy sock in half lenght wise and then rolled it up and slotted into the muffin case and im actually quite impressed!

just means everyone will be recieving two though so they can have a pair of socks lol

to create the cherry effect some people use bath pearls but i think i might use lollypops on mine, or if its a birthday you could always use a small candle in the top :j

For people who want to hide the contents, how about using the foil-type gift wrap? You know the stuff that's silver on one side and kind of holographic on the other? Hope that make sense! I remember seeing rolls of it in the £1 last year, so I'm sure it'll be easy to find this year too. They are normally fairly plain too, so would be ok for birthdays.

When I was looking for cellophane on ebay I came across this guide for wrapping gifts / bottles / hampers. They use tissue paper under the cellophane - which hides the contents perfectly. HTH

think with the bath pearls you would use double sided tape to secure- but with the lollys im just gonna pop the stick down the centre of the sock muffin so its just like a cherry :-):j :j :j :j :j :j

I made a sock muffin using fluffy slipper socks and just rolled them together and stuck them in, they fitted into a case without a problem.

Thanks Chris. Just been to asda and didn't see any of these!!! maybe I wasn't looking hard enough :( Will look for next time. I need some chocky footballs which was mentioned earlier on in this thread by someone. Just picked up a black flannel and a white flannel so going to do a pint glass cupcake see if I can get it to sit right before buying a nufc tankard from the NUFC shop.

An update on the yucky things going on ... got appointment with solicitor on Monday at 11am to see if I can get any help with legal aid so I don't have to try and fight this on my own! so fingers crossed.

Good luck on Monday Rusty, will be thinking of you.
