Thanks to MRSMCAWBER for help in solving this mystery

and to mumoftwo for her amazing
christmas cake

Here is how to fold the flannel into
the shape for the cup cakes

Below is how to make a two coloured muffin
many thanks to Rusty Flange for the step by step pics
CLICK ON PICS TO ENLARGE

if you want to make a swiss roll or yule log this is an example
of how to fold it,I used lighter coloured flanels so they would show
up better.the cheap and cheerful 20p flanels seem to work best for the filling.

and then mumoftwo went on to make these
lovely christmas logs and my seven year old
neice made one too

based on an idea from tab1967 to use those fluffy light weight
colourful socks you see everywhere instead of flannels below
is an example from rainmac .The first of many I am sure how cute is this ?

But I am sure that everyone on here can do just as well,
So go on show us your cakes !
below are just some of the examples that we have all made between us
have a go and put your pics up of what you have made.We are all just
having a go,no experts amongst us,so dont feel your effort will not be as
good or appreciated,we all enjoy seeing new ones listed.

Hi there
make a wedge shape the height n size you want the finished piece to be, wrap the flannel over the top and down the sides, tuck the left over flannel up into the bottom of the shape and then use the band around the outside to secure... i hope that makes sense-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
is that make a wedge from
something like cardboard ?:j:j:j0 -

thank you so much I have
sat here and folded endlessly
all the rest just folded into shape
it never occoured to me that
there was a folded piece of card
here is my first effort.
I will have a few practice runs
to get it spot on.Yours looks lovely
this one below is the muffin one it would look nice with a
thin ribbon wrapped around it.I have just bought some large
cardboard muffin cases on ebay, they have strawberries
printed on them I reckon this will fit into one and I thought
I would see if I can find either a plastic strawberry or
a strawberry soap to pop on top.Cases were only 99p for 25
and I spotted some cello bags they are working out around
£1.75 inc p&p so thats not bad.I can use whats left to pop
other things in.
once again many thanks for your help with this

These are great! Im thinking about doing something like this for my sister now! I was going to make her up a girly hamper, but now this has me thinking!!
So, (dumb alert) do I just make the shapes from cardboard and cover with flannels for the slices?0 -
Hi there rosekitten
Glad it looks like that will work for you...
When i saw your question that idea just popped into my head - im sure if i was trying to think of it for myself i would have been sat for hours scratching my head :rotfl:
I dashed upstairs and grabbed the first thing i saw.. hence the blue flannel and tartan ribbon
Im sure that who ever gets those goodies will love them...its a great idea :T-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
oh if you knew how long I have sat
with that flannel folding,folding,folding
I just couldent figure it out I should
have known.I was even contemplating
sending for one from the states and
taking it apart to see how it was made
but it probably wouldent have got here in time.
amazing how its the simple things that can stump you:j:j:j0 -

Below are the pics from the origional thread
to give you some ideas, all these are made
from face cloths, one for each cake and then
some decorations,ribbon and cellophane.
The ones in the first pic are the larger
gataux size these are each made from
one hand towel.

I've already ordered a couple of these from dealextreme (approx £1.35 ea). If they arrive soon I'll gently unwrap one and confirm how they constructed it. Having said that, it looks like yours are turning out great the way you're already doing them!0
