mum of two yours are beautiful I
have showed my nieces this thread
and they so want to do cake slices
next christmas and are now thinking of
trying out a christmas log.plus an idea of
making an ice cream cornet.
Many thanks to everyone who has come on here
with suggestions and ideas.:j:j:j0 -
Rosekitten,
Your nieces did a great job, I love how you wrapped the logs. The reaction of my collegues was fantastic. Staff were coming into the office to see the cakes because they had seen others walking about with them! Everybody was amazed, I felt a bit of a cheat, it is only 2 bits of flannel rolled up after all!! I even got an order to make some and made some money..
Thanks a lot for your great idea.
I am even considering making those cupcakes for Easter. What do you think? With a small chick sitting on top?0 -
Hi Folk...might I suggest you post your ideas in the Hampers thread? It seems like the sort of thing that would go well there too...
I'm having a nosey at threads I haven't really read before, & I've got so many earmarked that I dread to think what will happen to my inbox next week! There ae so many good ideas that my one regret is not having the females around to try them out on:p
So ideas for the male of the species desperately needed if you please! I like the idea of the choc swis rolls, but one of the offspring doesn't like cream:rotfl: :rotfl:

I think they would look really good with
a chick on,I am going to see whats about
amingst the Easter stuff coming in,these
would be great for anyone on a diet.
I went in the Works shop and
in the kids craft section this ripple machine
I have had a little practice and thought it
would look good to use on the cup cakes
as cases especially in the metalic card
wrapped round each one.
it only cost £2 and you get cards &
practice papers with it.

Also I found these unusual pins on ebay
they look really good on them too
they were a £1 but the seller was
really good about combining P&P
so it brought the price down its
something she sells all the time
from the look of it she also had the smaller
sized ones as well in various colours
and shades.:j:j:j0 -
These are absolutely fantastic - well done to you all. Guess what everybody is getting for Xmas next year?Proud to be a Clob Clubber :beer:0

they look absolutely amazing!!!!! i wish i didnt work with men, then i could make these cute things for work colleagues!!
that swiss roll was made for a bloke
but men are just as pleased as women
to get stuff like this,if the truth be
known they seem to be made up that
someone has even thought of them.
The reindeer ones I think blokes would like
them as well. That one the girls made looked
especially good because the flannel they used
was a very dark brown,we got it in TJ Hughes
on London Road for 50p.they are doing Sanderson
oddments at the moment.Just one face cloth makes
a full size swiss roll because its so thick.they had a
pretty pale pink one in the same range that we thought
would look good as a cup cake but they are too thick
for cup cakes and did not look right.the cheap 20p white
ones in Asda & Tesco are great for the filling and the cake
slices. The 39p face cloths from Home & Bargain work
better for the cup cakes.
I have it in mind to look for pale pink or lemon
to make an Easter cake one in about 8 slices:j:j:j0 -

I also wondered about attaching things on mine the
cherry on the top is off a cut up xmas dec each
bobble had a tiny hole on the underside where I threaded
cotton and ran the cotton through the centre of the cake
and sellotapes the cotton on the underside. Then added
pins as sprinkles on the top:j:j:j0 -
I used double sided tape. I already had that because I make cards. You can buy it in a craft shop, different widths. I also used that to fasten the ribbon at the bottom0

but how do you make the paper casing? I tried with cardboard for Christmas but didn't look realistic enough. How do you get it to be smaller on the bottom and wider at the top like a real cupcake? I love your cases that you ordered on ebay, just makes it look 'real' If the paper is crimped it might be easier, like you got from Works
Thanks for the tip about the flannels. the cheap 20p from Tesco wouldn't be fluffy enough for the cupcake.. And how do you roll them? Just in half and half again, I did see from one of your pictures that you had tucked the end it, that looked very neat..
Now, just brainstorming... Can we include maybe some cadbury eggs, the little ones, not in paper, so that maybe we can sell them to people and I am raising a bit more money for the neutral2008 challenge:D0
