  • Wilkinsons have the A3 size strip shredder for £4.99
Will evil Husband let you have one for that price?
They are the same as mine and very good.
    Waddle you do eh?
  • Asda have reduced their shredders,  Electric A4 bin top one £6.71 ( straght cut).

They seem to be getting very "seasonal" with their stock,  reducing heavily to get rid, for next "season", presumably xmas toys ::)

We bought one of those non electric ones with the turn handle, didn't cost much and didn't last the length of a years worth of outstanding cc statements.

An electric one will probably fare better, but as an alternative to putting them down the loo etc, have you tried a metal bucket or similar device and a match outside? It wouldn't take that long to burn.

I agree Cee. I bought one of the turn handle plastic jobs - cos it was only a fiver! The turning components are only made of plastic so after only a short while, the hexagonal bit you put the handle on (sorry to be so technical ;)) wears away to a round, so you could turn all day and your blades will never move again. Bought an electric strip shredder for £9.98 but would prefer a cross shredder.

You can get simple ones in Wilkinsons for £4.99, which will probably last ok if you only shred the sensitive stuff i.e. rip off the personal information and just shred that.

If you're going to do that, though, buy some beer with the £4.99 (now where's the cheapest beer thread?...), and drink it while you burn the bits of paper. Burning things is more fun, and how much burning paper produces the same pollution as producing a shredder? ;)

  • Just spotted strip cut shredder (electric) in Morrisons at £9.99.

In my experience these usually go fast.

Much better than hand operated ones, lifes too short!

Today at Station Box store got an electric home shredder for £7.99, with 1 year guarantee. It works well. It cuts paper into narrow ribbons (ie not a cross cut). Will take 5 sheets at a time.

I put the shreds in a paper recycle bin.
If a thief is going to climb in there and re assemble my bank statement after finding the right bits he deserve's to have the pleasure of reading it.
If you have a chimnea or an open fire this is a spanking idea, a log maker.
You soak the paper in water, squeeze into one of these log makers and dry it out, they burn for an hour I think.
    https://www.tiscali.co.uk they are £19.95
I had one of my recycling bags stolen, and now someone says they have information about me.
I will burn stuff from now on. Couldnt find the logmaker on Tiscali ??? Could do with it, got open fires in my house ;D
