Aldi Shirk Sale Of Goods Act Responsibilities

In January I bought a cast iron cooking pan from Aldi. It cost £24.99.
Last week the enamel lining failed and blistered. I took the pan back to Aldi and requested a refund. The manager refused saying that as the pan was more than 30 days old I should take up my complaint with the manufacturer. Despite me pointing out my rights under the sale of goods act he refused to refund my money.
I've put my complaint in writing giving Aldi 7 days to refund my money.
I'll update this thread as this progresses. I'm quite prepared to follow this through to a claim via the Small Claims Court to protect my rights.
I'd advise anyone against buying anything from Aldi if you want it to last more than 30 days.

Whilst you do have soga on your side, good luck with small claims court, they are a nightmare currently going though small claims court 4 months and still no resolution and have had one hearing 2 weeks ago, communication is at best slow and worst they dont even have the right forms and had to go to cab to get them.0

To avoid any shortage of forms issue, maybe consider using the Money Claims Online website.0

I have to say, rarely had a problem with anything i've bought from aldi's but the few times i have they've always been extremely helpful and gone above and beyond what they need to. I was suprised to hear you've had difficulties with them.
Have you tried calling them? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

Phoned their head office and was told someone would call me back. They haven't so my only recourse is to use the soga to enforce the law which Aldi seem to think doesn't apply to them.0 -

I would suggest writing would be the logical next step.0 -
OR you could just save yourself time and hassle and call the manufacturer.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

It may muddy the waters but if you dont try and make all reasonable steps to resolve this your not going to get far with your small claim!0 -

1. I have taken all reasonable steps. I took it back for a refund, they refused to carry out their obligations under soga. I contacted their head office, they ignored me. How much more time and effort do you think I should waste trying to persuade Aldi to obey the law before I take them to court and force them to?
2. I thought this sub board was about consumer rights. Not about allowing traders to flout the rules. Sorry if I have misunderstood.0
