Bloody hell whats with reading out all the terms etc what a waste of time

Anyhow changed from Direct Reward 3 to Direct Reward 4

They said it will show up as 3% on online banking and that the .2% wont show up but it will be applied in April

The T&Cs, after asking, are a lawful requirement set out by the FSA:rotfl:

  • Is it possible to send them a letter to ask them to change this?

I ask because my parents always get confused on the phone and won't last 30 minutes on it - and the local branch always insists on them meeting an 'ISA advisor' who tries to sell them a S&S ISA before they will do the 2 minute job on their computer to redesignate the account

I've seen this address listed on the transfer page:

    The Formby Team
    PO Box 4329
    MANCHESTER
    M61 0BN

    would this be ok?

Cost of a stamp will be less than the cost of the call anyway I think

edit: it would be nice if they just added an option to online banking allowing you to re-designate - would save all the time doing these phone calls

Could you not go with them to the branch ? They can say they want you to deal with things for them, so you could politely decline the sales talk.

Or by phone, I think they could do the security stuff then ask the person to talk to you.

They wouldnt allow me to do this - my son had to listen to all the t and c's then they tried telling him to open this and that

I've already fully contributed to an ISA this year, but would like to transfer an existing non-Halifax ISA to this Halifax one. As an existing Halifax customer, if I apply online (whilst signed in), will it allow me to open the account with a zero balance? (so that I can then simply send off the transfer form).

Yes, it will. Just select the option to fund later.

Great thanks. (I know that some force you to deposit at least £1).

I have the 2.8% isa at present. Where do I find this rate on my personal on line banking screen? I can only see it on a general screen before I log in. Halifax made a mess of my isa in the past and I don't trust them now!
