MiaowMiaow wrote: »Thanks:) I have applied for 2 basic bank accounts with no overdraft facility - hopefully one i will use to transfer monthly spends into so i dont overspend and the second one for a little bit of emergency money. xx
I really like the idea of having a spends account. I have an account for bills but a spends account would make my life easier.0 -
I am getting really down about being in my overdraft, I can't stop thinking about it - literally all the time. Its obsessive.
Its the thought that actually every time i get paid i am still in the red.
I have decided that tomorrow I am going to my bank to see about consolidating my overdraft into my loan i have with them. i currently pay £150 a month off my loan so if i could add my OD and pay about £200 month i would feel better just not being in the red.
maybe i am being daft but i really think i would feel better and then can just put any extra money onto CCs without thinking about my bl***y OD.
i know it means it will take longer to pay off loan (currently about july 2014) but hopefrully not much longer.
really bugging myself with these thoughts at the minute, maybe if i do this i will be able to focus more clearly without the constant worrying.:(
on another note - why does by bank shut at 4.30??????? why not 5 so i can actually get there before it shuts??
rant over...............for now!0 -

Hiya, forgot to answer your post on my diary. I followed the exante diet for two weeks, its one of those meal replacement plans where you get soups/shakes/bars. I treated it as a detox to give me a wee boost0

Hi Miaow,
Just read what you wrote about your OD and can totally understand what you are saying. I honestly cannot remember my account being in the BLACK, i suppose it was once but i have been in the RED forever.
The way i am dealing with it is to put £25 a week in an envelope and when it adds up to £100 i am paying it into my account. I have tried the consolidation loan route too many times, but continued to use the OD so ended up with double the debts!!
I hope you make the right choice for you about clearing your OD and if your loan interest is lower than your OD then things will be looking up for you, good luck !!!05/03/14 £15,980 0n 2 CCs
07/04/14 £15,690 On 2 CCs

thanks for your replyyeh i have done it before when i have just carried on using my overdraft - very silly ! but im hoping that if i rreduce the OD limit to zero it will stop me and im more determined now to clear my debt.......well having a good think about it tonight anyway. I like your idea of the money in the envelope each week. thanks x

Right............i've been having a think and maybe consolidating my OD into my loan is not the answer..........looking into it i will end up paying more interest and actually take longer to clear the debt..............its just so upsetting being overdrawn all the time..............guess its my mess and i need to sort it bit by bit - my OD is currently about £1850 and hoping nothing else to come out as originally using 0%CC for food etc to clear OD. - going to stick to that plan i think - guess im looking for an easy answer which there isnt!
on a plus point i have some more items ready to list on ebay tomorrow
guess im just feeling pretty annoyed with myself at the moment.
also thinking maybe i should sell my car and down grade? it is a 55 plate fiesta , bought from new, excellent condition, service history all ford, runs well, diesel. so do i sell and hope to get maybe £4000? and then downgrade spending maybe £1000 on a car and throw the rest at CC????? but will i then end up spending more on repairs etc...?? just dont know really:(:( plus my fiesta is cheap to run, low tax, cheap insurance. any suggestions??
