Wow Richard that is impressive! - Can't wait to find out if it arrived.

You're news has really lifted me and spurred me into action. I've got my statements from First Direct this morning so on to next stage with them. I've been sitting tight on all ccs for now until DMP is up and running properly - scared it migh upset the apple cart before hand.

I bet you feel invigorated by such success - Dare I ask is it much?
    Jojo

Only a little one JoJo (I say that to all the girls !) for £105 but it's £105 to go in my bank account.

I received a letter this morning confirming that the cheque is on its way. So all I can say is don't hesitate. Get your statements and get your claim in. Feel free to ask any advice if you need it.

I am also chasing A&L for just under two grand. I didn't get my statements through in time so have reported them to the IC to complain. They will know I'm serious.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.

  • Good evening everyone

1st December's here and I was all optimistic this morning - got my pack from cccs and paid my first payment in cash. Just signed into my bank online (currently First Direct while I wait till A&L transfer) and I'm a stonking £2789.05 in the red!!!!
My salary has been paid into A&L but my direct debits have not transferred and have all gone to FD. Just been on to them and theyy want cash on money to cover OD or they will bounce any other ccheques and payments and charge me for the priviledge. Oh dear!!!
So I've just spent 10 minutes cancelling all other direct debits over the phone so they can't get me for anymore. - Sadly they've made payments on loans that are part of my dmp so that's stuffed up things - it's a right mess!!!
Ahhh well atleast its not raining!!
    Jojo
  • What a nightmare. I was on internet banking the other day as some people as wanting me to fill in mandate to pay things but I know they wouldn't get them in time for the transfer!!!!!

So nearly in the same boat!!!!

  • Helloooooo all! Happy Friday to all :j

My bank accounts are still in a mess, loads of new direct debits havnt gone through on time & Scottish Gas just cancelled my payment plans rather than getting in touch with me about it. Will need to set them up all over again. Still the priority debts are sorted out, its just tiring having to check & recheck balances & impending payments all the time!

We now have two new bank accounts, 1 in my name & 1 in OHs. OH managed to get one with a switch card. The target is to have all the monthly payments coming off one account, which we then dont touch apart from the occasional check up. The other account will be for living expenses, money that is "ours" for the month. However, because of the haste with which we had to abandon our old account, nothing is in the right place! OH wages going into my account as his wasnt finalised etc.

Creditors decided to not be quiet any more, got a heap of letters today, with demands to call. They are all worded as if I HADNT already written to them twice, plus called them, plus CCCS have called them, plus CCCS have made a payment to them. Oh no, according to them, they have spotted it all by themselves and are perturbed that the situation hasnt changed despite them sending reminders to me.

The MBNA letter for example, instructs me to TELL them if Im having financial difficulties! This from the company that has refused my own initial offer of reduced payments and also the CCCS offer, have called me numerous times and who are fully informed of the situation......

On the plus site, some creditors (Egg, Goldfish, Monument) have been absolutely great, firm but pleasant and reasonable and if I ever win the lottery, they will be the ones getting my business! Actually I must write to them all & say thank you....
Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

  • It is interesting to read the experiences that people have with creditors, the ones who treat us fairly certainly make a difference in the way deals are done. Personally I am more likely to communicate with creditors who show an understanding of my situation and can accept that I am not lying when I say I am genuinely doing my best to resolve my debts. I feel good when I speak to a creditor that is willing to work with me on this, a bad experience makes me want to hide the letter/ignore the phone calls and not pay anything. What a shame that the 'bully boys' don't realise that a little customer care goes a long way! For me No.1 has been Welcome finance, I am first name terms with the guy dealing with it and have reached a repayment that we are all comfortable with, I suppose it always depends on the attitude of the person you speak to and companies would do well to train staff to deal with customers who are having difficulties.

  • Hi Jo

Have just read the whole of your thread with interest.... very inspiring.

I have the same issue about the smaller debts but spoke to CCCS about making extra payment and they said it would mess up the calculations as well as the interest. Best bet is to save in Building Society until have the full amount then pay it off in full.

I am trying to sell my house to release the equity to try and clear my vast debts and CCCS mentioned something yesterday which was interesting ..... When I have the money they can send a pack with draft letters to send to creditors that ask for settlement figures..... when these are returned some of the interest may have been taken off making the final figure less.

Not sure if I have explained thsi very well!

    Me.
