Good thinking on the CC front - shop about for a good rate.
Have you thought about doing surveys? - it's not a fortune but it does build up slowly - I've just got £30 in Argos vouchers which will help the Chrissie Shopping go a little further. Usually get a couple every other day so its a steady build up of pennies. - worth it for long term spends - se mine as either Christmas or Holiday pocket money. and if you refer a friend o some sites you get 50p for that too. - let me know if you'd like me to refer you.
What about getting a top from ebay? - (you'd think I was on commission but I'm a total ebay convert now) I wear suits to work and picked up a lovely per una one couple of weeks ago for £2.99 plus £2 p + p and it's brill.
My dvds were all boxed sets - Sex in the City, Sopranos, 24 etc just been sitting on the shelf since the first watch - just can't bring myself to part with the West Wing ones - probably the only ones I'll ever watch again. Also sold some action/drama/thriller stuff got around £4 for each one and combined postage to a couple of sellers. I think it needs a 7 day listing to get the interest up but so far everything has sold. Not so lucky with Baby clothes - most of my stuff is Summer wear now - so I'm boxing it up ready for next year and will stick it in the attic till buyers thoughts turn to Summer again.
Good luck enjoy the Vienetta0 -
Hello all mutual supporters! Hope you are all well & not stressing too much....
November is nearly at an end, seemed to go by in a flash. Have been totally obsessed by dealing with debt and money saving for weeks now, feel I need a wee break!
Im starting to feel Xmassy, its going to be a bit different this year, but I love Xmas :j
Time to start my annual clean up of the whole house for Xmas/New Year, the windows are in dire need of a clean etc. I like to have it all in order and shiny by Xmas eve. (Then I just let it go again) Should be easier this time around as its not so cluttered :rotfl:
Must go through wardrobe to see if anything there for Xmas party, else try the charity shops. Im lucky as our works night out is paid for by the company & there is a free bar!!
Get paid on Tuesday, thank goodness, as the cupboards are bare.Proud to be dealing with my debts :j

Quick update, almost fell off the wagon last night - was SO in need of an evening's shopping (I live 20mins from Bluewater!!!) Had dreamed of all the lovely things I would like - and of course don't need. I've always spent money as a quick pick me up and I'd had a !!!!!! day at work, any other time it would have been a quick spin down the road and a couple of hours retail therapy. Was just preparing to go when I got a call to say my son (who was supposed to be on a sleepover) would be coming back as one of the kids in the other family had fallen down stairs and looked like he had broken his arm - so they were off to A& E and sleepover was cancelled. As my son doesn't have the shopping gene (is it only women?) the thought of dragging him around the shops for two hours was deterrant enough and so my outing was abandoned. I reckon I probably saved myself in excess of £80 just be staying home so thank heavens for that - Oh and thankfully arm wasn't broken and the sleepover is back on tonight. Now I just have to talk myself out of it again tonight!!!
Got a shopping target today of a budget under £70 which might be a wee bit tricky as freezer is empty and also need Nappies and Milk for Child Number 2. Off to Sainsbury's this morning as I've got a "save £12 if you spend over £60" voucher - so that will help.
Hope you all have a great money saving day. Catch you later

Hi there, we got some sainsbury vouchers too they save £3 on a shop over £30 but I dont normally shop there cos it seems expensive so I wondered if it would be worth it or not?

Just wondered if you fancy recommending me for any survey companies, I was registered with one or two early this year but they seemed to be a bit of a scam cos everytime I got near to getting a voucher they upped the amount!£2 Savers Club - £36 (Started 17.11.06)

Hi everyone..Bluediamond touching base with you all again.
Well I am still here, waiting for the backlash of my DMP being proposed to the crediors. Capital one just won't give up and ring on the half hour it seems. I have told them that I am with Payplan now and they just won't give up.
Not nice.
Now that I have my A&L account up and running, we are just waiting for my wages to go into Lloyds so that I can take it out again and then Payplan can tell Lloyds the good news. We ain't their customers anymore. Diddums...
And then I will claw back the £1600 + bank charges that they have diddled us out of.
Still feeling optimistic about our new beginning but am thinking that we have to get saving hard to get some money behind us. yes we can live without credit and thats how it has to be but DH will need a new van in a couple of years and as we cannot get any credit, we will ahve to save. God knows how we can do that but we will have to.
We ahve gone onto interest only for the mortgage for a year so we were going to put the money we saved towards our debts ( advised the Bank) but now we are on the DMP we will have to save it and use it to pay off a chunk next year and lower the term.
Still have Christmas to get through however and am going with a friend shopping tomorow and I just cant tell her that we are on a tight budget as I just cant and have told her that I have bought it all when I haven't and only want cards and wrapping paper so I will go for the ride !..feel a right fool but hey ho...what does that really matter anyway ????
Whatever happens I feel a much happier person and am just much more at ease with things. I think it is because the DMp ( if accepted of course) has it all mapped out for us and we have a plan and I have not got to keep worrying about the money situation. That makes all the difference.
what is strange is that I am looking forward to Christmas now. Perhaps we haven't got any spare money but we have money and we have to be thrifty I know but by doing that and cutting back, making more of less and appreciating things more will be good enough for me and my family this year for sure. And we have eachother so what more do I need ????
Take care everyone and speak soon
S x...PS Can JoJo tell me where you get these surveys from?0 -
My hubby and I have spent the day being domesticated and cleaned the house from top to bottom, which we are very pleased about. This has meant that I've not left the house today and not parted with any money (not that I have any handy to be seperated from) which I'm very pleased about.
I've made a list of stuff I want to do in my 'break' tomorrow while working at home, so hopefully by tomorrow evening I will feel a little more on top of things my list includes:- Put some items on ebay - poncho, work suit I never wear, random items
- Count up loose change and take to bank to pay into account (anything to pay off overdraft)
- Apply for an MBNA credit card and move balances
- Go over my direct debits/standing orders and check that I'm not paying for anything I shouldn't
- Begin plan of action for getting extra work - Saturday job, freelance work etc
Thanks for reading..0 -
Hi Guys
Wow! between us we have done some real money saving and taken control. I really think we should all take a moment just to sayWell done to ourselves; not only had our painful lightbulb moment but also got off our collective back sides and started doing something about it .:j
Anyone wanting referral to surveys lease send me your details : name, address, email as a private message and I'll set the wheels in motion - (and I promise I wont sell the list on to some email spammers:rotfl: )
I'm really hoping to be able to save a little money by cutting my budget further and selling bits etc ... I was planning on trying to make additional payment to my debts but have read a few scary posts today about frozen interest then being reinstated so that's made me a little wary - what do you think?

I have my own self administered dmp which I negotiated myself (all on 0%) and have managed to turn myself into the most organised person from someone who was a total disorganised nightmare.
If anyone would like some help / advice or just plain old encouragement I would be pleased to volunteer. I do not have the expertise that some of the guys on here do but I am proof that there is light at the end of the tunnel and could help you get organised and give you a gentle shove in the right direction.

Hiya everyone
Had a good weekend. We have managed to spend £10.00 and then put £20.00 in petrol which will last me 2 weeks so good going so far. Went out for dinner today but went for two for one and we had a voucher for £10 off. Met friends there so they just paid the rest that was outstanding and we bought a round of drinks.
I have to take mother-in-law shopping tomorrow so I will end up spending on something that I don't need!!!!!!!!! I can't resist temptation
HELP !!!!!!!
I will get back when I can cos my internet is not working and having to log on at my mums!!!
