 anybody who can help advising on what to do next i would appreciate !!!!!
received letter from first direct today saying they will pay full and final but not full charges or any interest , does anyone think i should just carry on pursuing am i likely to get interest back as well , also could anybody tell me how long it took them to get there full amount claimed back or up to what stage in the reclaim process did you get too
    help!!!!!!!!!!!:A

unless you have had to file a claim and pay court fees etc you cant claim interest usually.
it took just under 6 weeks from first letter to receiving cheque but that was over xmas and I settled for £1400 rather than the £1800 I was claiming for and this was on the 1st request for monies letter.
  • I have currently followed your procedure with all the template letters to First Direct.I am claiming £2374 which they offered £1411 in february which i rejected.I filed a claim online with the court service.First direct have filed a defence full of all their jargon which has now been transferred to my local county court.I have noticed on your site that i should have been sent an allocation questionaire but this has been deleted on the transfer of proceeding notice.

This is all rather daunting and scary not knowing what to do.Also since February i have been charged another £300 in overdraft charges so do i make another claim for these.

I would be grateful for all the advise anyone can offer.

Have a read of this thread where you'll find that the AQ being dispensed with is becoming the "norm" so don't worry about that...

I read somewhere on here that some have had their accounts closed after claiming twice.

So if you claim for that too, consider sorted out an emergency bank account first.
  • I previously banked with HSBC and am thinking about claiming back bank charges. I am with FIrst Direct now but am wondering if my account with FD will be closed if I claim from HSBC as I know FD is part of them.

Currently claiming back £406 from Natwest, fingers crossed!!...

it wont be closed - it is a seperate agreement.

same as if you have a current account, credit card and mortgage with the same bank but are making a claim just for current acc or credit card (or both together) they cannot stop you from having your mortgage with them.

Hi, I have posted on the successes forum about suceeding in my claim to get charges back from First Direct after two letters and one phone call - claimed £415, repaid £415.
Just thought I would let you all know that I received the cheque (account closed) from them today (20/12) - offer letter written 14/4, received 16/4, sent acceptance sheet back 16/4 (in their prepaid reply envelope) and received cheque today. This is really fast!!

Recieved an offer of £830 out of £920. Happy with that.

Going in my account on the 5th May.

Took one email and one template letter. Total of about 1 hours work to post and calculate what I was owed.

    Hi all

A friend of mine has contacted First Direct to ask for her last 6 years worth of statements as she felt she'd paid out a fair amount in bank charges over this time. These arrived last week and when she added it all up it comes to somewhere in the region of £1250 so needless to say she's keen to claim it back.

Can I ask anyone who specifically has First Direct current account how they reacted when you claimed your charges back? Did they pay up, and if so did they put up much of a fight? Also, did they subsequently insist that they close your account?

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Mal
