you werent refused to be served either, but i would accept it. Can you not see that people should be able to finish work and get home when its not a vocation?

Can you not see that it is between the employee and their employer and NOT employee and their customers??

    What is your choice?

  • you seem determined that any response that doesnt agree with you isnt worthy of posting
I suggest you set up your own forum if only your views are welcome

You mean like you do Custardy.
    Remember the thread about cyclists?
When I brought up the subject of kids pulling out in front of cars, how did you respond?
Was it with a reasonable reply, or did you simply dismiss it? (and in case you've forgotten, your response is shown below)
how about we throw up any scenario that suits your argument?

to choose when i go into shops in relation to their opening hours
  • custardy, I fail to see the relevance of your Post Office opening times to the OP:
They entered a Post Office at 5:20, while it was still open.
The staff didn't tell them it was too late when they came in.
They got to the front of the queue, and were then treated rudely.

Either the staff member should have politely told the OP it was too late when they came in, or she should have bitten her tongue and treated them politely when when she did serve them.

Take this example then. You've worked all day. You've just realised that there is no milk and bread in the house, so on your way home you stop in at your local shop. The shop shuts at 6, you get in there at 5.50. They refuse to serve you because 'they finish at 6, and they're just getting ready to go home'. The sign on the door says they are open until 6, and the door sign is still 'open'.

You'd happily walk away with no milk and bread that night? You wouldn't feel even slightly aggrieved?

Yes I would be slightly annoyed. But i'd also learn to be more organised next time, set a reminder early on mobile etc. And buy some UHT for the cupboard so I didn't run out and make sure I had a loaf for the freezer.

Paying for milk and bread tends to be quicker than weighing, stamping and adding any tracking/proof of posting for parcels though.

OP if it happened again then ask them to view CCTV to prove you hadn't just wandered in off the street :)

Everyone goes into shops in relation to the opening hours, otherwise the shops would be closed!

Most people, but not quite everyone!

The OP was organised, they went to the post office at 5pm and there was a large queue, so came back 20 minutes later and there was still a queue but decided to wait. They've been patient enough to wait to be served, and was inside waiting 10 minutes before closing.
