Post Office Complaint!

sorry, where do you garner that from. is your slight aimed at me?
as i said in my first post on the topic.
I wouldnt go into any store that late.
or am i not allowed that opinion?
what is it with people with issues on opening times who feel the need to jump in on an unrelated topic?
ps my old office is open 7am-8pm weekdays,6am-2.30pm Saturdays.
guess what, people still complain they cant get there
As I quoted you it is pretty obvious that i was aiming at you.
TBF though, it is a little off topic, and for that i apologise.
What you would/woudn't do has nothing to do with the OP's issue.
If they let him in then they should serve him, without issue.try shutting the door on a Saturday with people still streaming in heading for the door
You said above that you shut at 2.30pm. There is the problem, its not very customer friendly is it?
Plus think of the custom that you maybe losing on other sales.
Even banks are becoming more customer focused with some opening all day on saturdays....and sundays!
Imagine the ruckus if RM tried getting post offices open on sundays, somehow i feel the staff would not like it, and probably strike0 -
The post office might have a closing time of 5.30pm (ie shutting the doors to the public), but the staff will surely be paid until the actual closing time of the post office (ie shutting the doors to staff).
They may be paid til 6pm, 6.30pm? Post offices don't just shut and all the staff jump ship at 5.30pm, they have cashing up to do etc. just like any other shop, just like banks....
To the OP, the cashier was rude, and if you feel so aggrieved, you should complain direct at the branch. Going through the complaint procedures with RM, will probably take you forever.0 -

well the office is open from 6am on a Saturday. thats 8.5 hours. i notice you have disregarded being open 13 hours a day during the week. you want a 24 hour opening?
how are the wages covered for longer opening hours? having an RM office open for collections isnt a revenue generator. so how do you pay for more staff?
so you want post offices open on a Sunday.you realise there are already Post offices open on a Sunday? so where was the uproar?0 -
I don't think you're over reacting at all.
I work in a well known retail store and do late night shifts, we close at 9pm during the week, yet we are situated in a shopping centre and most other shops close at 8. If there are customers in the store still at 9pm, we serve them, we are paid until 9.15 and yes, I have left shop floor at 9.25pm before but you just have to smile and get on with it.
You were obviously in the post office before 5.30pm and queuing, so they should serve you. It would make sense for them to close the door at say 25 past, if they have a queue.0 -

how can the close the door at 25 minutes past if they are open until 5.30?
cant have it both ways. personally i agree with you that there should be a cut off,but as im sure you know people would then complain they shut early0 -
sorry, you have quoted that i wouldnt go in that late.
then ask me why they are open that late?
its moot because i wouldnt go in that that.
get it?
'they' being who?
is the person who serves you in a shop the person who decides company policy?
I spent many years working as a chef.say the restaurant closed at 10pm. if a customer came in at 10 for a 5 course meal. im sure thats fine as they came in at 10?
You can not in all honesty compare cooking a meal to processing a few parcels. In restaurants, they stop serving at a certain time, entirely for that reason and it's a matter of common sense.0 -

what restaurants would they be? you have a closing time for last orders. however a meal can last hours
so last orders at 10pm,when you have a 10pm finish doesnt mean you will finsih at 10. does it?0 -

I know in my local post office because there are only 2 of them, they will close the door, if they have a queue of about 10 people as they do need to cash up etc.
Personally, I think if you say you're open till 5.30, then that's the time you are open to, and you will serve the customer but you can't please everyone.0 -

Your argument doesn't make any sense.
Plently of restuarants have a last orders time, well before they're are actually closing to give customers time to enjoy their meal and staff the time to sort things out, customers are made aware of the this.
Only last weekend, friends and I went to a restaurant, their last orders is 9pm for food and they close at 10.30pm, we were asked whether we would be ordering anymore food and we were allowed to finish our meal and enjoy a glass of wine until 10.30pm, we were aware of the closing time and left.0 -

Take this example then. You've worked all day. You've just realised that there is no milk and bread in the house, so on your way home you stop in at your local shop. The shop shuts at 6, you get in there at 5.50. They refuse to serve you because 'they finish at 6, and they're just getting ready to go home'. The sign on the door says they are open until 6, and the door sign is still 'open'.
You'd happily walk away with no milk and bread that night? You wouldn't feel even slightly aggrieved?0
