My quick question is as follows:

If the in-store scanner is not working (maybe turned off because of these R&R raids...hahaha), how is the best way of going about finding out if the price on the SEL is correct.

Am I actually better off just buying the goods anyway and then coming back and getting a full refund a few days later if they are actually full priced and not a saving and therefore an R&R prospect.

Any advice would be well received...so thanks in advance...

    ....and happy R&Ring

    J

Take the item(s) to the till, if you're charged the wrong price then great! But, if it scans at the correct price, consider one of the following:

    a) Get a "phone call" from someone telling you that they've already bought the item/its the wrong one/they don't need it anymore
    b) Realise you've forgotten your wallet/purse/credit card/debit card.
    c) Just tell them you've changed your mind

    HTH's.

Tesco 5ft Fibre Optic Xmas Tree should have been marked up as £24.97 but the printer clearly missed the £2. Got a real difficult duty manager who downright refused R&R so called CS and got it authorised!

Customer services refused to talk to me when I went back to pick it up!
fair play wished the printers screwed up on all the prices

oh and please don't name tescos stores

TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS
  • Just been in a Tesco Express ... been overcharged £2 per kilo meat compared to SEL ...

Was too hard for them to work out two days ago, then the manager wasn't there, so goes back tonight, with the tilll receipt signed by his mate the other night ....

Muppet manager wouldn't give me refund and let me keep the meat, said the price was clearly marked on the pack and that I shouldn't take notice of the SEL (what??)

I points out that the girls in work had all educated me of of the Tesco policy and that there's a big board saying as much in the local superstore ...

He says ... "oh, it doesn't matter mate, dosen't apply to us, you can ring CS , but you won't be getting a refund ...that policy doesn't apply to us, we're an Express store ..." (was too late to call CS just now as well)

Any ideas for a plan of action...? (as I'm sure he's talking b*ll*cks)

Can I ask them for petrol money as well cos of all his arseing around .... ?

I wish - it scanned at 24.97 the duty manager was adament that as the others were priced correctly, I should have known. I apparently also should have known that I could not have got a tree for under £5.

So he refused to budge on the issue. I gave up, got his name called head office CS and they kindly sorted it for me.

I've had many R&R's from express stores and the policy does apply to them it is clearly stated on the back of the till facing you.
    Stand your ground.

Because every store employes someone to monitor this thread, they jump straight on to it as soon as they see their store mentioned. Also, it keeps the mildly paranoid happy.
