I'm sure the question has been asked before and the advice was to contact HO about it because the individual store shouldn't be doing it. Even if it was upheld it's presumably in a single transaction, so just take the same thing through the tills several times.0 -
I’ve spotted an expensive electrical item at Tesco which has 2 big signs on it stating it has a feature which I know for a fact it does not have.
This feature would be a very important factor in my purchase decision and so to get it home and use it for a week but to then to ‘discover’ it does not have this feature would be very annoying for me or any purchaser. As I would have purchased the item with false or misleading advertising
I would like some advice on what my rights would be if I were to return to the store and complain a few days after using it.
Would I be entitled to R&R as it’s not an overcharge?
I think the most I could get would be a refund and a small gift card!
Sorry for being vague but it would be silly of me to provide full details.0 -
I dont think you would get much else apart from a "well just bring it back sir" to be honest.
It has nothing to do with prices then it would have nothing to do with the price policy so no R&R.
The only way you may get something would be to go through trading standards saying it is mis advertised. But I dont think it would get it you for free.We took on Mr T and we won:D
Shame it had to end, will have to get free stuff from comps now :beer:0 -
No but if its a big TV get it and use it over Christmas then take it back0

think this has been asked before but what time are changes made on prices when they so often change prices and the offers end?0

I agree with the "Touch of paranoia" but you are talking about 2 seperate camara systems, the standard CCTV and a seperate number plate high definition camara.:
It is my understanding that even if the name and address of the vehicle owner are traced from the DVLA , the details must be used for the specific purpose, i.e. to establish the length of time parked . If that is why they say they are obtaining details.
If the information is used for anything else then this would be in breach of the Human Rights act. The customer could reasonably ask for the information from the camera, to support that they had not exceeded the parking time, which then leaves Tescos with some very difficult questions to answer.
If Tesco then pass the information so obtained onto another source then this could breach the Data Protection Act.0 -
Just researching & found this, I'm getting more & more tempted...
Tesco Pork Roasted in Court
A complaint from a Northamptonshire consumer about the labelling on a "Tesco Tender Select" pork leg joint prompted an investigation by trading standards officers. The company failed to amend the misleading labelling, despite being made aware of the problem in January last year and the product was still on sale in April, August and October 2002.
Tesco Stores Ltd was fined a total of £2,800 plus costs of £1,000 after pleading guilty to four counts of contravening the Trade Descriptions Act by falsely describing the content of pork meat products. The court also took into account further offences of selling mislabelled pork escalopes, pork stir-fry, pork roasting joint and pork medallions.
After opening the pack of meat the true nature of the product became apparent to the consumer, as the words 'Tenderised pork leg joint with added water, glucose syrup and salt' were printed on the reverse of the front label and therefore not visible at the time of purchase. Tests carried out on the meat confirmed that the joint was in fact only 89% meat.
All meat products with the appearance of a cut, slice or joint of meat should be clearly labelled, in a prominent place on the packaging, with any added ingredients (so it can be seen prior to purchase).
Manager : Sorry sir you are quite correct the item you purchased does not have the feature as advertised please return it for a refund & sorry for any inconvenience have a £10 gift card on us.
Me: How about you give me a refund & let me keep the item & I promise not to complain to trading standards so your company won't get fined £3800 like in this case (hands over article)
Manager: Ok, give the man his refund grovel grovel...
I can dream can't I
It's only one count of misleading advertising so maybe not...0 -
Okay, so after yesterday's voucher debacle, I tried to R&R a Gordon Ramsay book today. Only my third ever R&R, I only get what I really want and would consider buying anyway.
Got refused. Called duty manager. Duty manager said it was because I am (direct quote) 'a p*** taker'.
Asked for him exactly what on earth that was supposed to mean, and would he mind not swearing at me. Calmly told him that if he would rather, I could in future direct all misprices to trading standards. Or possibly put stickers on items telling people that warning! you will be charged more than the stated price on this item at the till.
And did he know that the reduced stuff in the chiller cabinet was all use by November 16 and today is the 17th.
Stalked out. Have possibly burned my bridges at that store.
Still, at least I don't drive.0
